Help me pick a TV.
Discussion
It's time to replace my 15 year old Phillips 49" Plasma TV and I'm looking at a few 55" 4K sets.
I'm buying from a specific source, and to a budget!
The following are the ones which are available, to spec and in budget.
It's not going to be easy to see all of these working so I thought I'd get some input from those in the know on here to hone it down to a final 2 sets for me to go and see.
I'll be mainly using it off-air with either free view HD or talktalk/youview. Will be investigating the option of exploring online. It will NOT be used for any gaming.
So, any thoughts as to picture quality, sound quality, reliability and user-friendliness?
LG 55UH661V
Samsung UE55KU6000K
Panasonic TX-55DX600B VIERA
Sony KD-55XD7005 BRAVIA
LG 55UH770V

I have the last TV in your list.
Picture is great, even SD. Blu-ray through a normal blu-ray player is great too.
I'm waiting for the UHD players to come down in price though.
I have god Netflix 4k and it is unbelievable. There are also some dolby vision content on there which is perfect for this TV.
Sound wise it is fine for normal TV nut I bought an Oritsound sound base when I got the TV which helps alot.
I got both from Richer Sounds with 5 year warranty and the service was spot on.

From your short-list, it looks like your budget is £600-700ish. This rules out OLED and most of the HDR sets.
The 40” version of the Panasonic won WhatHiFi’s ‘best TV under £500’ in 2016. So should be worth a look.
The Samsung is a 2017 model (KU pre-fix) and haven’t seen any reviews for them yet. But Samsung are typically decent, and have a very good smart interface. I have 4 Samsungs (48" & 65" J9xxx, a 32" K5xxx and an old 48" H6xxx) and they are all good to watch.
Don’t know the LG’s or Sony.

I recently bought a Panasonic TX-58DX700B 4K Ultra HD Smart TV off Amazon for £799
Superb picture, apps are quick and its extremely thin.
We watch a lot of films (Dolby Atmos set up) and its the best TV for that. If you were gaming I'd say go for Samsung.
Wouldn't really look at LG, Sony etc
