Hi all

Well not technically wall mounting but mounting to MDF board. We bought an Ikea Besta unit https://tinyurl.com/lv2vpgy and had a carpenter fix it together as if it was one big unit and he also added a 1 inch thick mdf board where there would have usually been a gap to the wall.

I would like to mount my tv to this. Do you think a 1 inch mdf panel would be sufficient for "wall" mounting an 11kg TV

thanks

Yes, but ensure that you use the largest coarsest thread screws you can. Also choose a wall mount that spreads the load over a fairly wide are and not just a couple of square inches in the middle of the TV. Use as many fixings as is practical to spread the load.

As above, yes it's plenty strong enough. Just fire a fixing into every available hole.

Thanks all. I will choose a mount that spreads the load nicely and fix it with all holes.

think people tend to over engineer tv mounts these days, tvs do not weigh much anymore and the weight is all v tight to the wall so the loadings are not that much

sure its an expensive thing but just remember its not holding up the sky

a $50 Monoprice TV mount will hold a hefty plasma, so should easily hold a more modern LCD.

I fixed my old Sony LCD TV to the wall recently. I used an old cupboard shelf (approx. 15mm MDF) to mount the bracket on, and used 8 radiator mounting screws with massive rawl plugs to fix it onto the wall. I'm pretty confident its not falling off.
