I'm installing a pair of Lithe Audio speakers in the ceiling of a posh shed I'm building (build thread coming soon) and the void in the ceiling is filled with mineral wool insulation. Should I push the insulation back to create a void or doesn't it matter much from a sound point of view?

Ideally you should contact the manufacturer and ask what will sound best. They may say it is fine, or they may see it needs x cubic feet of air around it.

I always go for closed back speakers so less to worry about.

Over time the dust could cause an issue if the speakers dont have any 'back-can' or protection.

You could use a simple fire hood or a hoody which also provides some sound insulation.

Push it back a bit, no need for a massive gap just give it some space.

Using a fire hood is preferred..

Lithe Audio's electronics are encased all-round so shouldn't have any dust issues.

Enjoy them! Great speakers...!

I had a reply from lithe and they said insulation shouldn't make a difference but also recommended a hood. I tried with the insulation pushed back about a foot around each speaker anyway and it did make the bass sound better at high volume.
