TV through Sonos
Discussion
I am considering moving to a Sonos system, but am not sure what to about the TV sound. The current set up is a Denon AV amp which has built-in AirPlay to play music from my iTunes library. This amp will automatically switch to the TV source when I turn the TV on, and back to AirPlay when required (the amp is hidden away so I never see it, controlled with Harmony RF).
The amp drives a pair of speakers (just stereo, no surround) which ideally I would like continue to use with both Sonos and TV. I've read that Sonos can introduce a delay to the sound, but would that still be a problem if the sound is only going locally to speakers attached to a Connect Amp, or via a Connect to an external amp? (i.e. it's not being sent not to other Sonos units)
Are there any other issues I should consider? Or alternatives?

Sorry, should have mentioned that there are other units around the house, hence the changing to Sonos. AirPlay works fine, but is limited in that I can't send different music to different rooms. It doesn't have to be Sonos - I'd consider other multi-room systems, but the Sonos stuff seems well regarded.
If you have other Sonos units in the house then the sonos route is a Playbar and Sub, the playbar on its own doesn't have enough bottom end. You will also want two play1 or play3's for the rear audio.
Sonos have launched the playbase however I have stopped doing Sonos now as its impossible to make any money on.
I have Sonos kit at home that I want to shift to go to separates again.
TV audio will come from the TV directly using optical with a playbar or from an optical switch like in my case that is auto switched using Control4 to select the audio from the desired source.

I want to keep using the existing stereo setup for the TV, and add a Sonos Connect to it (or maybe replace the amp with a Connect Amp), but the issue really is with using TV through a Sonos Connect to local speakers - will the delay be a problem? I don't want a soundbar under the wall-mounted TV. Can the Connect automatically switch to the line input when it gets a signal?

Agree on the need for the sub, the Playbar sounds quite thin without it.Happy to be corrected, but I didn't think the 3s could be used as rears?
The connect will not automatically sense a signal when you turn on the TV this will have be changed as a source in the Sonos Amp.
The Play3's can be used as rears. However I think the price difference means play1's are favourable.
OP:
Why don't you leave your current setup going into the AV receiver and have a connect to group the house? You would change the source on the AV receiver to select Sonos, which would mean the TV room has Sonos capapilities, This would mean that you don't have TV to plumb round the house via sonos.
You could though if the AV receiver has a phono out on it run it back into the Sonos Connect?
Drop me a PM with number if you are confused.

I just use a Play 5 which connects directly to my sky box for the TV in the main room
I also have various Sonos around the house and TVs connected via a loftbox aerial splitter thing so i can listen to the sound from the main Sky box anywhere in the house where there is a connected tv and also a sonos
The sound is fine with the Play 5 (i'm no audiophile) in the main TV room but am thinking of getting a sub (very much regret not getting one before the bloody price rise!)
