Just ordered the Sony KD55A1, UBP-X800, Apple 4k TV, PS4 Pro - all from John Lewis, delivered monday - Can't wait.

Would have gone for the 65" but measured up and probably wouldn't fit!

Picture quality to my eye was best out there - amazing.
Being almost twice the price too perhaps put you off wink

Ha ha absolutely! I spent ages trying to justify the extra cost but it's pretty bloody hard to do so at twice the price.

The fact that it might look a bit big in the alcove was just an easy cop out for me

How are you getting on with yours? Can't wait for it to be delivered!

LG OLED65B7V

LG OLED65C7V

Could anyone please explain the difference?

And for £2.5k is there anything better than this Monitor?

Worth buying from John Lewis for their extra guarantee?

Worth waiting until January?

Additional sound system for ~ £500

Thanks!
Remember LG is also doing £800 cashback on the E6 at the moment.

So have a look at prices of those, get JL to pricematch the cheapest you can find and then get the £800 back from LG.

Is the expectation for price falls in the New Year or are prices likely to be fairly firm until the next versions of these TVs are released?

I enquired about an LG OLED55B7V yesterday and was advised to call back in the New Year when there will be a further price reduction.

How much can they fall though?

Retailers are paying around £1180 for the 55" at cost, so every set they sell at £1400 means they are losing money.

Can't see then dropping much more to be honest, the B6 never dropped below £1400 after xmas when the B7 was on the way, and it could be had cheaper on Black Friday at around £1350. Same with the B7 this year.

I guess the margins on the 65" are the same?

You will love it, best TV we've owned by miles. When viewing 4k it really is very similar to the cinema experience.

My regret is getting a 55. Should've gone 65, and now the 65 is the price of a 55 grumpy

My plan is to wait until the 65" comes down a bit and then move the 55" into the bedroom

@lazadude

Just found this thread!! I got the oled 55 c7 from currys on Black Friday for £1499, back up to £1799 now though!

I can't even put in to words how good the picture on this tv looks, coming from a edge lit LED to this is simply a different world!!!
I still can't get over the blackness of the blacks, and the contrast, above all else these 2 things make everything look so much more than on a LED TV.

BBC released the whole series of blue planet 2 in 4k HLG on Sunday, this telly is one of the few current tv's that support it!! I haven't stopped watching blue planet over and over again!! The visuals are stunning!!

Also the LG B7 and C7 are exactly the same panel, just different stands, I went c7 as I preferred the look..

Gaming wise the input lag is the lowest of any current OLED TV, on the market with 21.3 ms in 4k hdr gaming mode!!

I did a lot of research in to oled vs qled etc and once I saw the price of the lg drop that was the only choice and I'm absolutely chuffed with the TV.

[quote] I've had my B7 for a few weeks now and it is very good. I recently added the LG ATMOS sound bar that Currys are now selling for £750 and that too is superb. I would buy the plain B65 and spend a bit more on the LG sound bar.

I've been looking at the lg sj9 soundbar but heard that you can't get Dolby atmos from the tv to the soundbar, is this true even using the ARC HDMI port?? Would be a bit of a let down if you only got Amos from an external source i.e. Bluray player!

Is Atmos from a soundbar actually realistic, sounds like marketing crap to sell it.

Not sure a tiny speakers angling sound up from across the room will be anything like an actual ceiling speaker above you.

Oh I totally agree that you can't beat the full speakers in ceiling job..

But

For the price point, and the fact my mrs won't let me cut holes in our ceiling this is the only route to go.

Might be worth demoing in your room/getting it from a place that takes returns.

As if the Atmos effect isn't all that, then you maybe better getting a cheaper non-atomos soundbar and spending the remainder on a better subwoofer, or a soundbar with rear speakers.

Atmos content is still relatively sparse, so you can always get Atmos in a few years when it is the default.

I have a Samsung Atmos sounder and it's pretty good, yes it's not as good as a full blown setup but works for me well enough.

I also bought the LG Atmos sound bar to go with the B7 and I'm quite impressed with it. OK it's not as good as having speakers in the ceiling but compared to my ageing surround sound system that cost £4K the sound bar measures up well.
I did put ceiling speakers in my games room where I also have another B7 plus an Atmos reciever for the PS4 Pro and that sounds amazing.
