I also bought the LG Atmos sound bar to go with the B7 and I'm quite impressed with it. OK it's not as good as having speakers in the ceiling but compared to my ageing surround sound system that cost £4K the sound bar measures up well.
I did put ceiling speakers in my games room where I also have another B7 plus an Atmos reciever for the PS4 Pro and that sounds amazing.
Do you get atmos from the telly through to the lg soundbar, or does you only get external source atmos ie from a bluray player?

What source are you viewing on your TV that provides atmos that isn't from optical/NAS?

I have My Sky Q going into HDMI in on the sound bar and then from the sound bar out to HDMI 2 with ARC on the telly. I was having a real lip sync problem before doing this now it seems to be sorted.

Have you downloaded the Dolby app on to your tv? When you play the test videos using the Dolby app do you get atmos on the soundbar?

I haven't downloaded the app on the television but I will look for it. I've just tested it on Netflix with one of the Dolby Atmos films and the sound bar displayed Dolby Atmos. I have noticed it's out of sync though

Think Which had a report that many of the black friday sales were a rip off this year. Prices were cheaper at other times so retailers didn't really put out any real stunning deals, played on the name.

55" B7 for 1499 at Richer sounds, 65" is the same I paid for my 55 a few years ago. If I was looking I would be down there.

Did anybody get Richer sounds or John Lewis to price match the E series when they were on offer at Peter Tyson or Crompton and moore? and then go on to claim the £800 cash back?

I tried today and at Currys as Hotukdeals had the 65" at £2499.

Non of them would match, Richer would use the £800 cash back themselves to bring their price closer, £3799, they take £800 off and an extra £50 so down to £2949 but that is still more than the £2499 on Hotukdeals.

Bought the 55 B7 yesterday from RS.

Had an offer of £100 due to some issues they sorted before with my sound system, so got the 55 for £1300. Cracking TV for the price.

HotUKdeals is just a forum that lists bargains, what was the shop?

Was it a bricks and mortar store? Have physical stock?

There is a LG cashback success thread on AVForums, so I would read through that/ask there.

Bought a 55" E7 today from a large department store in Newcastle for £1499. I was going to spend £1299 on a Samsung QLED, mainly because I've read so much about burn in on OLEDs, but happy to take the chance on the LG at that price.

Is Atmos from a soundbar actually realistic, sounds like marketing crap to sell it.

Not sure a tiny speakers angling sound up from across the room will be anything like an actual ceiling speaker above you.
I'm glad someone brought this up as Atmos in a sound bar seems to go against Dolby's own suggestion for an Atmos setup. I have a 5.1.2 setup using Dali's for 5.1 and Keff Eggs for front presence height and even that isn't ideal.

I had a close-up look at a LG 55" OLED yesterday in John Lewis and was underwhelmed. The store was heaving, so there was no-one to ask if the video source was 4K or not.

FWIW, https://www.richersounds.com/tv-projectors/all-tvs... - 1399 with 6 year warranty.

It gets worse. LG this week are claiming that their upcoming 5cm thick 2018 OLED TV's now feature Atmos from the tiny speakers laugh

Not a bad thing - more devices can only encourages content makers and broadcasters to increase content, so it is good news for those who have actual Atmos setups.

LG have also switched from partnering with Harman (no surprise seeing as competitor Samsung bough them recently)- their new soundBars are claimed to have been 'tuned' by Meridian. Good news for Meridian to get more brand profile and LG cash.

In fairness, Atmos support enables other features as well. For example you could turn up the volume, or change the language of, the 'speech' object (or silence it if you don't want commentary on a football game) or turn down the volume of a particularly loud object (say an explosion) without affecting the rest of the sound field. Yes, they are probably doing it just to put the label on the box but it could, in theory, be put to good use.

How good is the B7 at handling sports?

IM working myself up to buying one as it seems to get good positive comments but some are saying that its not able to handle football as such.

And im guessing its all worth the extra money but is it £500 better than the Sony XE9005? Well i thought i saw the Sony at sub 1k but RS have it at 1100 now and the B7 @ 1500.

All current TV's (OLED/LCD) are of the 'sample and hold' type. The way our visual systems process these images, coupled with the low frame rates used in media at the moment, combines to make moving images look blurry. Football tends to have lots of moving pictures; pans, ball/players moving across the screen at speed etc so it appears blurry on any modern TV. OLED is slightly better than LCD as the pixels respond faster but to 'fix' the issue you really need to emulate an impulse set with a smaple and hold by using Black Frame Insertion (BFI) which you will not find on any current OLED. The other option is to buy an old impulse type screen (Plasma or CRT)...

As always, best thing to do is go into a shop and have a look at the TV's displaying the kind of content you care about, and use the image processing features to see how they affect the image.
