Outputting Chromecast to an A V Receiver.
Discussion
I have all my TV Audio, from the Sky Box, Blu-Ray etc, to an Pioneer VSX322k A V Receiver.
All is fine, apart form when I try to cast Netflix to the Chromecast.
Initially, I had the Chromecast in the TV, and was trying to work out a way of outputting the Audio FROM the TV to the AV, but I am told that this is not possible, but I need to connect the Chromecast to one of the inputs into the Receiver.
Looking to have a play around with this over the weekend, but does the logic sound correct?
Anyone done this?
I use Chromecast to listen to the Radio and Spotify, so ideally would like to be able not to have the TV on whilst listening to audio, if this is possible?

You shouldn't have any issue taking audio from the TV to the receiver unless the TV somehow doesn't have any audio output (which would be very surprising). Will only work when the TV is on though. I have a similar issue - my 10+ year old receiver doesn't have HDMI, so I connect laptop to TV via HDMI and optical out from TV to receiver.
If you want audio when the TV is off you will have to connect the chromecast to the receiver directly though.

I have my BluRay, Sky Box and Chromecast all stuck in the back of my AV box. One cable out to TV. Not sure why you would try to do it any other way?
Must admit i've not tried to listen to audio with the TV off but surely must work. Just because the TV is not displaying a picture the Chromecast should still work? It's just another input to the AV tuner.

Assuming your TV doesn't have ARC can you not output from the TV to the receiver with an optical cable?
Not all TVs will give you dolby digitial and/or DTS when outputting from the TV's optical/coax output as this requires licensing, you need to double check what the TV will output.Another vote to just plug the chromecast into the amp.

With my denon amp turning off the TV will temporarily lose audio from a connected device, but it comes back after a second or 2.Must admit i've not tried to listen to audio with the TV off but surely must work. Having said that I would recommend a Chromecast Audio if you want to use it for music, I have both and the CCA is much better for music IMO, as well as being able to choose either analogue or digital input you can also group a CCA with other CCA or home devices for multiroom audio.
