Hi GSE,
I tried sending you a PM, but not sure whether you got it.
Anyway it's clear you like working on older hifi kit.
Not sure where you are in the country (I'm in North West London), but I have an old B&O Beocentre 3300 which was my father in law's. It comprises a turntable and AM/FM receiver. I'm not sure how well it works - the speakers are definitely in need of some TLC - rubber round the drivers is perished, and may need new drivers. As far as I know the amp section is ok, and I know he used to use the record deck (not sure if the auto arm still works automatically).
Anyway, if it's of any interest to you, you're welcome to have it free of charge assuming you're able to pick it up.
Cheers,
Conrad.

Conrad thank you for the kind offer for the Beocentre a lovely piece from the '70's has a good spec too. I'm not too far away I may take up your offer next time I'm nearby, will pm you

I love how there is a 5gbp ikea lampshade above all that!
Good spot. If memory serves me correctly, it was a little less than £5 for a pair. I'd like to say they were rigorously A/B tested and chosen for their non-resonant qualities, but at the end of the day, they do what they're meant to (hide the light bulbs) and, as far as lampshades go, that's good enough for me.You might also note the megabucks pipe insulation holding the speaker cables off the floor.

Always loved that SME deck.
They are really nice, neutral-sounding decks, and the quality of engineering and finish are stunning. It makes for some very interesting vinyl / digital comparisons with the Wadia.Excellent system.
After thankfully ridding myself of the hifi bug and box swapping I've now just settled on the one basic system. Not everyones cup of tea I know but I still find it's hard to beat for the price.
I've done valves, class A, and D, big speakers, small speakers etc. and and a host of Dacs.
So, I've settled on an old school olive system which each component has been serviced and now fully pulling its weight.
Comprising of
Naim CDI
Hicap with Avondale TPR4 regs
Nac 72 preamp
Nap 250 power amp
SBL mk2 speakers
Chord cables.
Surprise item joining the party as my streamer and DAC is a Raspberry PI with Allo piano Dac fitted and their Kali clocker......an immense improvement over the other mainstream dacs/streamers I've had.
Nothing flash anymore for me and this is my keeper system.

Essentially a modest home cinema system with CD collection ripped to network storage using lossless format. Keep looking to upgrade to 4K and Dolby Atmos. Though very happy with current sound and image. Might do it in the near future with integrated speakers when the room is rebuilt/redecorated.
Pioneer SCLX57 Reciever
Pioneer BDP58 Blu-ray player
Cambridge Audio network player
6GB network storage (flac files)
PS4
Panasonic 50” plasma tv

I switched from a Quad system to one built with HK components. It'll appear to audiophiles that this is a weird move but reasonsing was as follows:
Over-riding rule is that everything had to be out of sight and live in the broom cupboard - secret to a 25 year marriage is that this is an absolute.
The central system runs 12 to 16 speakers in various rooms, a mixture of Bose 301's and Bose hidden ceiling speakers. 301s are brilliant speakers in case you're wondering and perfect for medium sized rooms with music not overly loud.
Quad was an amazing system, especially when I had the electrostatic speakers, but it had to go because the speakers were too big and the system didn't allow any remote control. It also liked a higher volume that I generally listen at.
HK allowed a wireless control to be added (the wires to the IR receivers you can see which, go to a wi-fi transmitter as oppose to an IR control link and on to a control pad that can be in a different room)
With the wireless control programmed down to a very simple two buttons and volume it's easy enough for the family to operate.
Flexibility to tie in ipads and iphones when the kids have friends around plus laptops etc
One step too far was the inclusion of the HK system to run a cinema sound. It went quite quickly to be replaced with a seperate amp in a cupboard by the cinema, also driving just two 301 speakers. Personal opinion is that surround sound is not as good as decent stereo speakers and there'd be too much drilling in walls to get all the wiring to my wifes hidden requirement.

edit :HK cinema amp and notice the use of mains wiring cable for speaker cables - top tip for decent high cross section copper cabling and useful cost saving if you've installed about a mile of the stuff. On the top pic you can see the mains speaker cabling running up on the right behind the power cables. Need to label them properly though as it's confusing once you're at the other end and you don't want to accidentally strip a live mains wire for your speakers!

Marantz PM4001 amplifier
Marantz CD5001 CD player
Technics SL-QD33 turntable (this I found recently on a car boot for £10 and other than the cover being broken it works beautifully), it replaced a Technics SL-DD2 turntable.
Cambridge Audio S70 floor speakers
all gold plated phono leads, speakers bi wired
all a bit old school but love the sound, home PC feeds into the amp so films etc play through it

[quote=C&C] Ok - no problem. It would be good for it to go to a good home, as it's just sitting in a room doing nothing now.

Mark Levinson 39 cd player and much else (it's now doing pre-amp and DAC duty, too)
NAD S200 Silverline power amp
Zingali Overture.2S speakers
JPS biwired speaker cables, balanced interconnect and power leads
Recently added a Cocktail Audio X12 box with all the CDs ripped as lossless. It also acts as the digital radio source
All rather odd as a combination, but it plays my music beautifully.

Interesting setup there Variable output CD into power amp is a great solution.NAD S200 Silverline power amp

I had a similar setup a while ago but used the variable output from a Wadia 301. I've had an X12 for a few years too; hi-res streaming and digital radio are great.
