Thanks, will give him a try smile
Ask on Hitch Hikers forum too.
Went over to HitchHikers (not been there before), and found 'MrTechGuy', based in Cambridge, who seems to be able to service pretty much all Meridian kit. Yay!!

Cool.

Not needed to use him, but heard good things.

I wonder if he can help with my Lecson AC1 and AP3. I must give him a go.

The 2 common themes of hi fi enthusiasts

Their current system plays music beautifully

...but always upgrading
It's a disease - and it always was.

I used to work in the hifi industry many years ago and there was always something 'new' to tempt buyers.... "it was if a thin veil of gauze had been removed from the speakers" would be the typical comment to tease buyers into audio heaven. smile
Personally, I think addiction is a much stronger, more appropriate metaphor than disease. It's certainly how I view my high-end habit: it has cost me a lot of money, it sometimes affects my life in negative ways, it frequently provides me with experiences of immense pleasure, and I can stop at any time....really, I can stop at any time.

No pictures but my gear is very modest in comparison to others posted:-

Lounge
Yamaha rx-v1067 a
AV receiver
Cambridge audio minx10 front
Jamo Centre and rear surrounds
Old Sony sub that is surprisingly good(to be replaced by Wharfedale sub mentioned below)
Panasonic BR player
Acoustic Energy outdoor speakers

Home cinebar
Yamaha rx-v2067
Pioneer BR player
Jamo rear surrounds
Tannoy M3 front floorstanders (bi-amped) and center
Wharfedale SW150 sub (to be replaced by BK Gemini 2 at some point)

Office
Topping VX2 amp
Dali zensor 1 speakers
PC

Also have an Audioquest Dragonfly black that is fantastic but currently redundant

Unused bits are
JBL Control 1s
Tannoy M2 (I think)
Kenwood KA3020SE which is still fantastic
Nad CD 5 something that sometimes needs a whack with a rubber mallet to get it to read discs. Anyone got any ideas on how I can repair permanently?

Pics please!

Only ever seen this pairing once in action decades ago - it was well used even then but crackled when the sliders were used. Sounded great next to the huge Technics and Marantz things of the time.

I've always thought there is a good analogy with photography.

Both subjects deal with an analogue 'source', but require a bunch of technology to reproduce it.

In both there's a kinda 'sky's the limit' on money you can spend.

In both there's always something new that's a little bit better resolution.

There's always an upgrade, and more expense!

And there's always the 'Is what that guy's got better than what I've got' envy.. hehe
Ref both hifi and photography, and cars now I think of it, I don't envy anyone and I don't buy 'gear' magazines.
Not buying magazines has been a huge boon to my satisfaction with life. I'm no longer trying to buy the dream, achieve the unachievable, be like someone else.

I only bought my current camera because the previous one was stolen in a burglary.
I've had my current lenses around 5 and 10 years.
I've had my bestest watch nearly six years. (previous one stolen in the same burglary)

Remember, the perpetual upgraders are a tiny minority. They shout loudest on forums, but the ones who are content don't shout at all because they rarely feel the need to.

Panasonic XR55, renown for its excellent sound quality from digital sources (Xbox and satellite mainly) as its has pure digital amps (no DA conversvsion required) and also bridgable/biampable stereo output (including time alignment and hi/low balancing).

JPW Gold monitors running bridged for 200wms each.
These are really bright speakers but with thick carpet to absorb the treble and placed against the walls to get useful room gain in the bass then end up with a really nice even in room response (I have an Audessey mic to take measurements).

JPW matching passive subwoofer powered by an additional 2 channels (200wrms total). Awesome little sub, it obviously does not go mega low (-3db at 35hz in room) with its 2x8in woofers, but its one of the most transparent subs I have ever not heard (no port boom or sound artefacts that you should not hear) and integrates perfectly with the monitors they are designed to go with, brilliant for music and okay for movies.

Only got a picture of one of the speakers...

I will need to dig them out. My first Hi Fi so could never part with them. Fed from Michell Electronic Reference turntable with SME 3009 and Shure V15 cartridge, back in the early 70s.

Wish I had the tuner as well as worth a few bob now.

I'm not very good at getting rid of old gear so the house is littered with older systems that have been relegated to different rooms when the main system has been updated.

The lounge has the main system built around a MiniDSP 4 x10 digital crossover / pre amp. This is fed optically by a Novafidelity X12 for digital sources and an Audio Analogue Bellini pre amp for analogue sources. Occasionally I listen to vinyl on an old STD305M turntable with SME3009 arm and Shure V15 but mostly I stream from the X12. Speakers are 4 way active units, the heart is a horn loaded Audax Aerogel 5" driver open baffle fed by a pair of mono RB-971 amps, three RB-981 stereo amps sort the amplification for the HF/ Low mid/Bass. The subs are big EBS designs; -3dB point is 11Hz. Power for the subs comes from another Rotel RB-981.

Conservatory also uses the X12 analogue output to feed a Cambridge A70 power amp. This drives 4 B&W Solid speakers.

TV sound comes from pair of Duntech Marquis speakers at the front, a bespoke active centre and a pair of KEF Coda 7s for the rears. There are driven by a Yamaha amp. The Duntechs sound holographic ( when you sit in the right place )

Dining room has a pair of Impulse H2 horns driven by a Sabaj A3 amp. Source is either an early Exposure CD player or phone. H2S are still special.

In the garden, I use a pair of big open baffle speakers ( 2000mm tall x 600mm wide ) made from a couple of solid wood kitchen worktops. 96db/w/m...…….no cabinets and no room to screw up the sound thumbup Even when fed with a phone and driven by an old Rotel RA931 amp, they sound magical.

I think my ears must be destroyed.

My main system is a Yamaha RN-602 with a Marantz CD player, Project Debut 3 SE turntable with Monitor Audio silver 6 floor-standers. It sounds good. I have a B&W Zeppelin Air in the lounge for a quick music fix and an old system in my man-cave consisting of a Denon amp, CD player and some Tannoy Profile 632 speakers on stands.

I setup a 30 year old Technics (CH-550 I believe it's called) midi system I had as a teenager in the study for my eldest to use as it's been sitting in the garage for years unused. It cost £500 back then but I'm blown away at how good it sounds (and the fact it fired up like it was new.) OK, it's not as clear in the mid range but the bass, dynamics and overall sound quality fantastic! Wondering why I invested so much in my main system biggrin

Will try to sort at the weekend.

Here are a few pics of the Duntechs and the CC. The centre's aluminium baffle is painted with some gold / pink TVR flip paint. smile

Here's one of the surrounds on it's stone plinth

Impulse speakers, Exposure CD, Sabaj amp

B&W Solids in the corners of the conservatory

Dipoles in the garden

Amps and active crossover for the main system.

I've got one of them.

Mine is like Triggers broom though. The only original parts left are the platter and bearing

Snap. This has the full Inspire Vivid set of upgrades, so the cross brace and top plate are probably the only original bits - it probably doesn't go down well with the Linnites but it sounds GREAT.

Cool! Do you need a supply of quarters to run it, or is it on 'free' play?

It's on free play. Most of them had that option.

I've noticed the thread title says Hi-Fi. In all honesty, this is Lo-Fi biggrin
