I have a Fire TV box that is no longer used, I also have a Prime membership.

Would it be possible to hook it up to my Denon micro system (HDMI - RCA)? and use it for music playback only, if I bought a voice remote it would be easier I guess?

Yes but you'll find it very difficult to control' without some form of display to hook it up to..

All you need is a small HDMI monitor or TV, quality not that important. Go for a supermarket special or ebay.

Actually thinking about it amazon are flogging of mini lcd projectors with HDMI interface from about £40. Throw that onto the wall, select the options and then switch it off.

Oddly I was just sat here wondering if a small tablet would do the job, HDMI out of Fire TV into tablet but then how to output stereo sound to Denon?

This was my thinking behind the voice r/c - would negate the need for a screen perhaps? Not having used a voice remote I'm not sure if this is viable or not?

Would'nt it make more sense to get a Dot and just go 3.5mm to RCA to the amp.

That's exactly what I did - and the dot is mono output despite 3.5mm STEREO output!

now got a Dot sitting in the bedroom that we don't really need, thinking about pairing it via Bluetooth to our soundbar in the living room.

Brilliant, loads of reviews on Amazon saying it's Mono only so I just accepted that & moved on. Turns out the phono cable at the rear of the Denon wasn't tight enough rofl

Still doesn't answer what I do with my unused Fire TV box though hehe
