55 inch TV with Freesat and separate plug in DVD player
Discussion
Hi
We have recently moved into a bungalow with a huge lounge so want to get a larger TV. These 2 are in our price range but could someone help me identify what the difference is between them aside from 50 quid? (I am really not up on this stuff).

Alternatively if any of you folks could recommend any good alternatives in this price range, I'd be grateful.
Secondly we want to get a small DVD player to occasionally use with the TV. Would I be right in assuming that this wouldn't be an issue for us to just plug one in and play DVDs?
Cheers

I would go for this with a 6 year warranty.

Definitely buy a blu-ray player rather than a DVD player.
Re. model numbers look them up on LG's website and compare the specs.
But more importantly go and take a look at them in store and try to see some content you are likely to watch rather than the snazzy 4K demo content.
Richer Sounds are nice people to deal with and offer excellent long warranties so they'd be my first choice to buy from.

I had a look at the website but can't fathom any differences tbh...
We don't own a single Blu-ray we only have DVDs!

Try one. The step up in picture quality over DVD (especially on a 4K TV) will be very noticeable. If you really want to push the boat out 4K players are becoming affordable (will still play your DVD's and regular Blu-Rays). A good 4K disc with HDR will really show your new TV off in it's best light.

Thanks
tbh I'm looking at around 600 quid on a TV and 30 quid on a cheap DVD player. We don't buy any DVDs to keep any more (and that includes Blu Ray) but have a number of old DVDs and videos I transferred to DVD, which we may want to play in the future...
I'd still like to try and understand the LG part numbers though before I buy a new TV next week!

Comparing the three on LG's website the differences I can see...55UK6750PLD has Local Dimming and Ultra Luminance. Other two do not. Not sure what Ultra Luminance is. Local dimming I have turned off as it's annoying as hell.
55UK6750PLD and 55UK6400PLF have Intelligent Voice Recognition (with optional Magic remote). Other one does not. Magic remote is good.
55UK6750PLD has 4 HDMI in, other two have 3.
55UK6750PLD weighs 17.3kg, other two weigh 15kg
55UK6750PLD is a bit smaller than the other two.
That's about it.

You can can compare links below:https://www.lg.com/uk/tvs/lg-55UK6400PLF

They look identical but the PLC is exclusive to curry's

Thanks for all your help folks
I went with the LG 55UK6400PLF from Richer Sounds in the end with the 6 year guarantee.
Once it arrives I'll pop into Currys and pick up a small, cheap DVD player to go with it.
Cheers
If you hook a dvd player up to a 55 inch UHD tv, it will look terrible. You need something that will upscale the dvd to suit the tv, which would be a blue ray player minimum.I went with the LG 55UK6400PLF from Richer Sounds in the end with the 6 year guarantee.

The UHD player I mentioned would be the best option.

This 100%. You can pick up a Blu-ray player that will upscale DVD's for £54.https://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/tv-and-home-entertai...

OK thanks boys
I'll bow to your better judgement and get one
Good man. And whilst your at it please buy at least one Blu-ray disc. I'd recommend 'Gravity'. Picture will blow your mind if your used to DVD.I'll bow to your better judgement and get one
If you use streaming services (Netflix or Amazon Prime) might be worth checking/upgrading your broadband connection. 25Mb will get you 4K HDR via streaming.

We have no chance on the broadband as where we are we are lucky to get it all! (very rural west Wales)...mind you I don't subscribe to any streaming anyway! If you use streaming services (Netflix or Amazon Prime) might be worth checking/upgrading your broadband connection. 25Mb will get you 4K HDR via streaming.
