I use all the smart features on my OLED, Amazon TV, Netflix, Plex etc.
Depends what you have I guess?
hmm i suppose i do have amazon prime but never used the video. i'm old school in that i want one remote and to just click and films are on none of this fannying around! hence just used sky but then havent had a smart tv so maybe will change. just dont want to pay for fluff i wont use.Depends what you have I guess?
hows your tv buying going? i so dont know what to get!
I am watching a couple of B&O TVs that finish this week.
I do love the B&O TVs, but I think the owners are expecting far more than they are now worth. I made a decent offer for cash pick up, but was ignored.
I offered £700 for their 40", B&O dealers have offered me the 46" model for £100 more, so think that is more than fair. But offer completely ignored.
I don't get when someone is selling something they can't tell you what they want, all this "You make an offer" is BS.
I explained if they give me a price I can negotiate or say we are too far apart, if I make an offer I have a good chance of offending them.
Problem is, people buy these sets then can't believe that they are worth so little 6 years later.
I had my Beovision 8 40 up for £500, in the end I sold it for £330. Got to be realistic. Sure it was £5k new, but it is old tech now.
Not replying to my offer is just stupid, especially when you start the auction at £450 with a BEST OFFER option.
Come back and say "We were really hoping to get a grand for it." as I might up my offer.
If someone hasn't got the common courtesy to reply I don't think I want to buy from them anyway.
Hopefully it will end with one bid at £450, they might have wanted to start discussions then.

It is IPS. has great reviews as far as i can see - is it better than the samsung? or is it a no no as its ips i think?
IPS simply can't get close to doing proper black, without being able to do that the image has no pop at all, really noticeable when you get it home and watching at night with lamps on.
john lewis are doing free soundbar with the sony

I’m not sure that’s a good thing! I'm out until last pm Sunday but kids are in so looks like it will be X-factor in proper HD for the first time!
How does the cash back work?
Thanks
Courier called about 30 minutes ago to say he was about 100 miles away and could either get to us late or deliver to work address in the AM which is what was agreed.
TPS has not been 100% flawless but they and their couriers have followed the Toyota customer service model that made Lexus the success it was in the USA, ie. when things aren't 100% make them 200% by offering your customers more than they expect be it in terms of cost, convenience or service.
Looks like an afternoon fiddling with cables and wifi tomorrow.

Saw the Philips 50PUS6703 today.
£479 in Richer Sounds, think I will go for this.
It is not as good as the Sony, but a damned good image. VA panel as well, inky blacks and the rest of the image gets so much right.
Absolute bargain.
I would love the Sony, but can't justify £800 at the mo for the second sitting room.

All set up now but still need to find out how to regionalise the freesat guide (??)
I am actually very pleased and impressed. The image on an SD feed is okay, same as the old plasma really, HD is better as its full HD (my panny was 720). Colour balance is what I like (natural) and blacks are pretty much "black", I turned the brightness down from 35 to 30 straight away.
Netfilx and amazon in 4k are pretty stunning if I put my glasses on (!) other that than (to me) its a bit better than HD.
So in summary I have found a telly that is better than my eyesight and it fits perfectly in the room (wife actually just said it makes the room feel bigger!)
And in answer to my question, no I am not disappointed. In fact I'm very happy with my new TV.
So, thanks to all again and a big thumbs up for TPS.

Interesting thread - duly bookmarked.
We're still using our 26" Panasonic LCD that we've had for years.
Since we're doing up the sitting room, my OH thought we could look into getting something a bit newer and with a bigger screen (you know where this is going?)
She came back from John Lewis having seen a 55" Sony with a "speaker in the screen". A quick poke on the website shows £1999 worth of Sony AF8 with "Acoustic Surface" (or the AF9 for nigh on £3000!)
https://www.johnlewis.com/sony-bravia-kd55af8-oled...
No idea if that's any good and negates the need for a soundbar?
I'm way out of touch with the "must haves" on a TV - we don't have a satellite service, or a decent broadband speed (waiting on Gigaclear - whole other story!) We get no more than 7mb on Broadband on a good day (ancient copper all the way to the nearest village).
TL:DR - is the Sony AF8 any good, or are there better TVs around for less?
