Fronts really need to be equidistant from the telly and at screen height.

Much as I hate high level TVs that set-up is crying out for being mounted above the fireplace.

Your mate has done the classic of "can't hear the rears", ignored the sound level setup, and turned them up so he can "justify" them. In the same ball park as mounting your TV above the fireplace. Rears should be hard to locate - subtle background (apart from Apocalypse now style helicopter fly overs).

- not having the L & Rs equidistant really isn't that bad if the levels are adjusted properly. They just produce ambient noises and special effects. The centre does nearly all the work. Better than a council-above-the-fireplace-install. :-)

Can't bring myself to mount the TV above fireplace... Too 'wayne and waynetta'.

Room set up has to pretty much be as is, so I'll have to make do with a compromised set up.

Am going to give the Polk a go, if only for the wireless speakers saving running speaker cable along the skirting.

I'm keen to hear how you get on with this set. Please drop a quick post with your thoughts.
