Has anyone moved their AV amp and various TV connected things into a cupboard away from site?

Just wondering how practical it is and what extra kit might be required. The location will be just the other side of a wall where the TV itself will be.
Cable runs are no issue as it'll be part of some building work so it's just the technical side of things like I think you can get some kind of IR repeater?

Yes, I hide stuff away all the time for clients.

IR repeaters can be as simple as these from NEET, which I use in simple systems, IR Receiver near the TV, wired down to the cupboard and the blaster with 6 emitters off it.

All it does is receive the IR from your remote and repeats it inside the cupboard.

Then you can go to something like this from Harmony, which you program up with all your devices and the hub sits inside the cupboard, handset tells the hub what to send and where.

Yes I did that...no LEDs to spoil the blackness when I watch a film on my projector and it leaves the living room clear of gear. I use a Harmony remote to control it all. Put a basic 19" rack under my stairs (and had a separate mains supply brought in as I only had a single circuit for all the sockets in my house. Bonus is that my noisy subwoofer amps can't be heard in the room:

I had to run all the cables before redecorating the room and tested them thoroughly as I didn't want to seal in any dodgy cables.

Nice thanks, sounds very doable then.
