I think people get hung up on "too big for the room". Unless of course there is no physical space. It is a wall, fill your viewing field with tech. Probably looks far better than the paint the Mrs picked for you.

Wonder if it is a throw back to the 21" CRT sat in corner taking the floor space of a reasonable sized armchair.

With the majority of viewing a 55" screen will give a better picture as so much viewing is still 1080 and a 65" or bigger can start to soften the picture.

I am also not a fan of a TV taking over the room either. I prefer the physical footprint of a 49", but do appreciate the larger sizes when viewing films.

My room is 7m x 7m and found the 65" too big from my 3.5m viewing distance, great for the odd film, but 90% of my viewing is TV and 55" seems perfect.

I was concerned about TV/room size when looking earlier this year as we were having all the downstairs re-done and the TV was a treat for me cool

When in MY spot I'm approx 3.5m away from the telly in our modest little lounge. I was dead against, (don't know why) having a wall mounted TV but when my brother in law, (who did all the work( went through it all he pointed out it would be the best way to get the most from the room. My main concern was cables, but he did a cracking job of hiding all of these away, and once we'd found the right wall mount bracket I was sold on the idea.

Went for the LG Oled C8 in the end and have to say I am really impressed with it for my needs. Hooked up with a Yamaha sound bar and I feel the setup for me gives really great results across the board. TV, gaming and films, I bloody love it. Since having the TV though I do find myself only ever wanting to watch HD channels when flicking through.

I love the ease of use of the LG which is ideal for an idiot like me.

When swmbo is out I do enjoy looking for decent music vids and the like on youtube music

Personally I avoided wall mounting for a few reasons. Main reason is I did not want to look up all the time (yeah, I know, it could be mounted lower). It is at eye level centre of the screen. Went for a cabinet stand in the end, hide all the cables and kit in one go.

Only problem is I bought it with the existing amp to fit and didn't think about when I upgrade. Going to need a bigger cabinet......

Yes, wall mounting is fine assuming the TV is at the right height.

Back from my post above, the 65" LG E9 is great across all format, SD, HD, UHD. It's in a dedicated TV room and eye to screen distance is c. 3.5 m.
