Technically there's no difference, the only difference is aesthetics.

Both same screen / speakers (locations may differ - but who uses the built in TV speaker these days?)

That would be me... unless there's a wireless way of linking the TV to better speakers.

I think the perception of chav is over- hyped envy. It might be chav to have a huge crap TV but not an epic one. Hot tubs are chav though....
Completely disagree. A disproportionately big television compared to the size of the room IS chavvy....
I gather the rule is that you’re a Chav if your TV is bigger than your bookcase.

Just put a soundbar underneath the TV? (Also wall mounted). Cables can either be chased if there's lots of gap, or if you mount it flush with the bottom of the TV, you won't see them.

You can also get swivel wall mounts with bar mounting points attached, so if you were putting it on a swivel mount, they're something to look at.

Too late for this, as the chasing is already done... there's a brand new wall with power, HDMI, etc leads ready to roll at the desired height.

So get one of these for each TV:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B076FDNTB4

Attaches the soundbar to the TV wall mount, sound bar only needs a HDMI connection from the tv (for audio ARC) and to split the power for the tv to include the bars power.

The sound out of our new £250 TV is absolutely fine for everyday use.

I bought a small soundbar for the Samsung 40" which I bought around 2010. The difference was not so great and I moved it to the upstairs 32" Samsung where it made a big difference.

The speakers on the LG C/E8 are supposed to be OK and I confess I sometimes wonder who has to live next to people who have enormous soundbars or sound systems that rock the walls with the bass settings.

There again, maybe they are all directors who live in detached houses... wink

I have got an old surround system with sub which will do that - I put it on when one of my daughters had friends here and they wanted it turning off as it was scaring them!

Getting it connecting to the new SmartTV was a faff, but it does work.

QLED generally goes brighter, but it can't match anywhere near the contrast and blacks of an OLED.

As with everything it depends on your use case, but in a darkened room, you can really notice the difference between QLED and OLED due to the light creep/bloom.
I went for QLED because the TV is in the living room which has an enormous window so lots of light coming in through the day, I read that OLED is better in a dark room but QLED is better in a room with lots of ambient light.

I went for a 55" Samsung QLED 'Frame' TV in the end, there are probably better ones out there but I really like how it sits flush to the wall and blends in.

I am clearly a chav, by PH standards, it seems. Have just set up an LG 77 inch OLED in the TV room, and it is absolutely astounding.

Go big! Worth it. Retired my 8 year old Panasonic Viera plasma in 55 inch for this, with no regrets.

Yup, totally agree, as I said, depends on use case.

Just for the counter, mine is in the living room with lots of huge windows, however most of our viewing is in the evening rather than the day (due to going to work), so the bleed light from the windows doesn't exist and the OLED in the dark wins.

Although bright summer days, I don't think any TV would be perfect because its a pane of glass and there's lots of reflective light. Black out blinds on the 2 windows behind the viewer for any daytime viewing solves it a bit however.
