IKEA “Sonos” speakers.
Discussion
I was in IKEA earlier and seen these. They look like very good value for money. One that doubles as a lamp and another that doubles as a shelf and can hold 3 kilos.
Reading a little they look like a perfect start to zoned music throughout the house at a reasonable price and a decent sound quality. They don’t support Bluetooth but I think I can live with that.
Anyone running them?

I’m hovering over buying one of each then heading over to the frivolous thread......

They are basically a Sonos One inside a lamp etc...
As I paid less for my Sonos ones these are not currently good value for me...
Assume you did so through a discount route? Friends and family etc?As I paid less for my Sonos ones these are not currently good value for me...
I have a good friend that can apply a staff discount on "real" sonos speakers but I guess the council in me likes their dual purpose for certain rooms.

Just Amazon deals... Black Friday etc.I have a good friend that can apply a staff discount on "real" sonos speakers but I guess the council in me likes their dual purpose for certain rooms.
I think the other thing for me is that I like the speakers to be subtle and tucked out of the way - whereas a lamp is more visual...
But I love the idea of what they are doing...
The online reviews suggest that the shelf speakers aren’t that great whereas the lamp is.
I prefer a decent hifi but may try one of the lamps to see if its actually any good in a bedroom or home office. But as I don’t actually like Ikea I might struggle to go into a store or have their products in my house.

I popped into Ikea yesterday. Listened to both the lamp and shelf speakers. I haven’t heard a Sonos before. I didn’t buy. The sound quality seemed adequate but didn’t seem at all special ie no better than bose and the like.
They sound completely different in a room at homeI've got a bookshelf tucked out of the way in the bedroom. For this it is really good. Easily good enough volume and quality for a bedroom and the Sonos app works really well with a network hard drive/ Amazon music etc. I'll probably buy another 1 or 2 to dot about the place.
I thought the lamp looked a bit naff.
I wouldn't get one as my main hifi tho.
