If you want some real quality with a quite incredible sound from small loudspeakers, these Falcons would be my choice:

They really are astonishing.
...or if you are particularly handy with DIY, make your own...

I made a pair years ago and they have now emigrated to New Zealand with our youngest boy.

Do I win?

Demoed these a few years back completely by accident while waiting for the Naim ND5 XS to be set up to audition. Punch well beyond their weight.

Very impressive for their size (or lack of).

If you just want a pair of small high quality passive speakers (need an amp), then you can do much worse than the Neat Iotas

ETA - check the actual dimensions - they are tiny, but deliver great sound. Only weak point is if you're after significant bass (there are some physical limits to low bass and the size of the speaker). Could always add a sub though....

FWIW, I'm using a pair of these with a REL 7i sub driven by an integrated valve amp with Nottingham Acoustics Ace Spacedeck turntable and they sound really good.
..but I still agree they sound very good for something so small! smile
