CD to CD recording

Some advise please, I would like to record tracks from my favourite CD albums onto a single CD blank. Advise sought for a inexpensive solution as it’s a once only task.
My hi fi I’m using is Marantz CD 65DX cd player and Rotel RA 1062

Advise and comments please.

Easiest way is to rip the required tracks onto a PC/laptop and burn your selection to a CD-R.

Loads of free software out there to do it and external USB cd writer/burners are pennies on eBay.

If they are any younger than about 35 they may not have any idea what a CD is!

This is so true!!

Still I do have hope yet, just look how vinyl has come back, and now the old cassette tapes

Do you have a laptop or PC running windows with a spare usb socket?

Windows Media Player comes with a ripping (to get info from your CD to pc) and burning (get info from pc to blank cd-r in a format playable on a CD player) program. Rudimentary but useable.

Hundreds of others available for free with a quick google.

Buy something like this:

Again, hundreds of others available elsewhere starting around £10.

Then some blank media for 25p a disc:

eBay probably has them for sale at 1p per disc if you buy a few. Buy a pack of 10 - you’re bound to mess up a couple of times when you first try

PM your tracklist - there’s a chance I have them and can sort you a disc out.

Do you have a friend who can do this for you?


It’s a very simple, basic task for anyone who has done it before, but could be too daunting for someone who doesn’t have a grasp of the basics.

Thank you for reply, I have only an Apple ipad unfortunately.
Very kind offer to record a playlist, tbh I don’t have one, I had intended to go through my CD albums and record individual tracks as I come across them. If I can’t resolve my recording problem I may come back to you if you are still willing

Most of my pals are about as tech savvy as me sadly. Ask them about steam traction engines or vintage cars and be treated to an hour of non stop (un) interesting information tech, and they
like me glaze over. No worries
