I’ve always liked the idea of Naim stuff, given that a lot of stuff I listen to is trance/electronic so always imagined it would sound good for that sort of thing, but I often wondered whether the stuff was overhyped too, in part, due to the religious zeal that Naim fans often seem to have.
You don’t need to invest in their amps (and PSU and interconnects and power leads etc) to get a real taste of Naim. Their streamers/network players are excellent with that type of music (and pretty good with everything else in my experience too).

I’ve just gone through a 100 track playlist over the past couple of days with everything from Zero7, through M83, Kraftwerk onto some Oakenfold and Van Buuren remixes and the sheer attack is bloody addictive.

To me, Naim is all about their amps. Others do everything else better. Buy a classic olive amp(s) which can be easily serviced for the rest of your life. Lovely things if you can find ones that haven’t been mucked about with.

You either love the Naim sound or hate it imho, that is why many just go through the upgrade path with them.

It is not something I could live with.

My mate has a NAIT 3 but its hard to compare with my system as his DAC and speakers are different too. IMO mine sounds just as good if not better, but that is only my opinion, I’m sure his would be different smile
