Hi all, just finishing renovating our house - which when we bought it had a hardwired B&O system running through out.

I have some lovely B&O 8000 powered speakers in the living room that I want to keep, but want to get them hooked up to a wireless device instead of them being wired into an obsolete B&O head unit.

B&O have advised me that the beosound core is the device I am after …..but it is £600.00!!

Wondered if there are any alternatives out there that do the same thing for a lot less.?

All of us in the house are iPhone users, and my daughter and I (the two main music consumers) both use spotify.

thanks in advance

Loads of options.

You can go from a £25 chromecast audio, Raspberry Pi, Sonos Connect, Bluesound Node 2i etc.

Think of your speakers as an amp, you just add whatever source you want to them.

thanks for that - at the risk of showing myself up for the luddite that I am - will I need some sort of special adapter for the speakers to attach to one of those box thingys?

No. As long as whatever you buy has normal line level outputs, you can plug these into the line input of the Beolab 8000s and set the function switch accordingly. They'll automatically switch on when they detect an input signal.

The Core is good if you want to connect multiple B&O speakers. I have Beolab 3's. They need to be connected to something like an Essence (cheaper than the Core but not as good) I use one of these and then you can connect a Chromecast Audio to avoid the clunkiness of the Essence. If you speak to Steve @ Sounds Heavenly he will point you in the right direction. His advice is fantastic.
