Admittedly it's been a while since watching F1 so I might be mis-remembering, but the Quali and Race are not showing as being available in UHD on my planner... anyone else?

Previous seasons I've set up a series link to record on both the main (2TB) box in UHD and my mini box in HD, but it looks like it's only available in HD today (ie doesn't show UHD in the planner/description).

Can anyone confirm whether they are seeing the UHD symbol against the quali/race on their planners?

Thanks

It doesn't show up on the planner, you have to go to the channel, then either push the red button, or push 'I' on the remote. There it should say 'select for UHD'.
I was watching it yesterday, so it definitely works!

Or go into Main Menu, then down to Sports, then scroll down to the Ultra HD section and all the stuff should come up to watch or record. The F1, F2 and F3.

Is there a way to set the box to record any of the "live" programmes? My box never records the following race when I set it to record.

Just come off the phone to Sky. There was definitely something wrong on my account as i... Press to watch in UHD wasn't an option. They've sent an update to my box and after a reset that option is back.

I hadn't actually tried the Sport... UHD route. It's been so long since there's been any F1 on I'd forgotten that was the route to recording in UHD!

Thanks for the comments, much appreciated.

Sky are apparently due to start broadcasting material in High Dynamic Range (HDR) for those with a compatible SkyQ box. About 3 years later than any other platform!

Anyone know if this is likely to include Sky F1?

I know HDR transmission of live sports can be problematic as HDR usually requires significant post processing but here’s hoping.

Can anyone tell me how I can get my sky q to record f1 in UHD? When I first got my box a couple of years ago, it automatically recorded them in UHD. Now it only records them in HD. If I watch the channel live I can select UHD and watch live, but it seems to default to HD to record.
I’ve had a look through the settings menu, and I can see how to change the default to UHD for downloads, but not for recordings.

Help!!!

Apparently;

You can only record football or F1 in UHD by going to sports and then going to the UHD menu within the sports section anything else has to be downloaded to be in UHD.

There are 3 nature documentaries in HDR at the moment. They're going to be adding more content, but not a huge amount until they have the process to swap the v1 boxes (which can't do HLG) out for customers.

Sport will be in HDR but not until next year. There's not an HLG UHD F1 feed yet anyway..

What are the documentaries that are available in HDR? Does this work with the 2tb box. I can view UHD no problem at the moment.

Thanks.

Details here - https://www.sky.com/help/articles/sky-q-hdr

You need to have either a v2 or v3 Q box - if it's got silver trim and an external power supply, it's a v2, black trim and it's a v3. The original boxes have silver trim, but internal power supply and can't handle HLG.

That’s really helpful thank you. I requested a SkyQ box upgrade a while ago but no news yet. Fortunately there’s been plenty of HDR content via Netflix, Amazon Prime, Apple TV, etc. Shame that Sky are sooooo late to the party on this one.

Is UHD much of an improvement on standard HD? I have the older Sky box but wonder if its worth upgrading - I have a 50" Samsung TV (2 years old).

My personal opinion would be that on a 50" TV from a reasonable distance away (6 ft), the difference between HD and UHD will be fairly minimal.
