I have a Samsung Series 8 TV and I've just bought a Denon X1600H.

I've plugged Sky Q via HDMI to the AV amp, then HDMI to the ARC port on the TV.

But it's not recognising ARC. If I try to select sound output on the TV to HDMI it selects it, then goes back to tv speaker and then option disappears.

As far as I can tell ARC is enabled on the TV and amp.

Any ideas?

Have you tried going Sky Q to the TV then ARC to the AVR? Maybe a HDMI handshake issue?

With Samsung TV's ARC/eARC only one HDMI port provides that functionality, so worth double-checking. It is normally enabled by default though, if you have he correct port. What does the TV show on screen when you use the volume control - eARC, or something different?

Also, cable spec - are you using a high speed cable that supports Ethernet (from memory v1.4 and above)?

The amp/receiver looks fairly straight-forward, with a single zone, so that should be OK - I have two zones, and when I upgraded the TV connected to the wrong output, so no ARC..

Yes its definitely in the ARC port and the HDMI cable is a Sandstrom Gold high speed with Ethernet.

Anyway I unplugged the TV and plugged in again and that's fixed it. Works fine now.
