No really a Cinema room just a very good AV system
There is a Sub under the sofa and the rear speaker are a set of Roth's

Good grief, that centre channel isn’t in the, err, centre. They’ll be onto you!
That must be dolby "5 and a bit to the right.1" I would not be able to see the TV.

This is mine. Small room, but it's a great little space and it looks and sounds fantastic. 80" screen (wide-angle lens makes it look like a 50"!)

Since the above photos I've moved the centre speaker onto a wall bracket

For tuning the sound? Material to absorb certain frequencies?

I went a bit overboard by partitioning a games room to make the cinema room but we do use it regularly so it's been a good decision. 3D movies with surround sound has been a good distraction recently.

I tend to use the recessed 65inch telly for xbox stuff but when the 4m screen drops it covers that whole wall and fortunately the projector image is set to give the full-wall picture and links to the Sky box as well. Some of the shoot-em-up games are quite immersive.

If you are designing a room from scratch, will you be wanting Reference level audio? As in bass down to (and below) 20Hz at 105dB+?

If so, and depending on the size of the room, you'll need to move some substantial amounts of air to achieve it, and also understand positioning of subwoofers in relation to seating positions in order to ensure evenness of response across the bass range.

This is my effort. It's an ongoing project which started out as a cheap room to watch films in. I've just changed the couches for some cinema style recliners.

Also I agree on the speaker comment above, I thought picture was most important, but the sound is a huge factor. I'd almost say sound and speakers matter more..

They are acoustic panels. Or, more specifically, broadband absorbers. They prevent reverb by drastically decreasing the decay time of reflected sounds. The result is a much less "live" sounding room, i.e. it sounds "dead" when you speak, or clap your hands, and in terms of listening you get a vastly improved stereo image and accuracy, as well as much clearer dialogue from the centre speaker.

There are some things you just can't fix with DSP. Room treatments should be on anyone's radar if they're setting up a dedicated cinema room.

Broadband absorbers are useful down to about 150Hz. I also use a MiniDSP to flatten the response of my sub.

No pictures to hand but I have a bar in my garden with surround set up.

All second hand but good stuff. Sounds excellent and the picture beautiful as TV was professionally calibrated by previous owner.

Watching the Pacific and band of brothers etc is wonderful.

Forgot to say I have a good enough set up in my lounge. Basic 42" TV for everyday use but a PJ for movies of good TV shows.

OK surround. Limited by being in a semi although once we do some kitchen work I'd like to upgrade my little Cambridge Audio speakers to something a bit better.

Not a room but got a recessed hidden 8foot retractable motorised screen in the roof void of our lounge and a projector, 5.1 with speaker lines chased into the wall. Did it all myself with my bro in law took 1 day when we moved in. Just use that so don’t need a TV in the room.

I’m In the process of rebuilding my basement home cinema/man cave. I did have optoma projector/av receiver etc but found it all too much of a pain in the backside so sold it all. New room will be 75” smart tv, sound bar, minimal wires one end and my DJ booth/bar the other with my technics/pioneer set up hidden under the counter.

Work so far reboarding and jointing, wall ready for smart tv.

Reference pics for what it will look like

More gentleman’s club/gin bar, the previous dedicated cinema room just wasn’t working for the family, they hated it which surprised me.

They could also do the cleaning and play with the kids. Its all about how you "sell it" to the Mrs.
