Would have been bigger but that's as large as I could get on the chimney breast.

Proper council me
No! . . .you have placed it well above head height haven't you?! My Pet Hate. smile

I have had projectors at 80" or so, 50" Panny plasma, currently a 43" Panny LCD.

60” Pioneer Kuro, did a lot of homework before I splashed out. Had the picture formatted for the room as well, along with viewing distance /height etc .Had it about 10 years now, still utterly stunning quality, and they still go for decent money secondhand.

So back in the days of CRT TVs, most people had screens around the 20" mark. I always reckoned if you're going to watch TV, admit it and get the biggest one you can. I think the biggest CRT I found was 28" and it was a beast. Most people thought I was mad, "why do you need a TV that big" " I hope you've got a really big room to put it in". These days I have 43" and I'm quite happy, while all the people who used to have 14" portables as their main TV now have a video wall half the size of their house. Don't quite get it.
Big CRT was huge money at the time and with the interlacing rate wasn't a fabulous idea for picture quality.

Sitting 8 feet away from my 65 inch oled watching the Super Bowl and it’s perfect. Couldn’t justify the big jump in price for the 75.
You think it looks ridiculous when you get it at first, but you soon become used to the size.

They shrink as you get used to them so get the biggest / best quality you can fit/afford smile

Smallest Samsung 'smart' TV thingy. Almost never watch it.

49" LED in the living room, 50" plasma on the bedroom wall. Would have gone bigger, but 99% of the TVs out there now are designed to be wall-mounted (really didn't want to risk it with a red hot stove 18" below it) and have feet at both ends instead of a centre stand. The TV sits on a dresser in the alcove on one side of the chimney breast, and I've 5mm on each side of the feet so any bigger and it would need to find a new home, and possibly a more pronounced slant angle to be actually able to see it. Also, the joys of a 150-year old farmhouse with walls three feet thick making the rooms funny shapes and sizes! The plasma upstairs is mainly just for playing Xbox etc, not disturbing other people. Haven't watched TV on it ever.

I have a 200 year old cottage, TV is a 55”... seen on the left... anything bigger won’t fit or just wouldn’t look right...

This is exactly my setup, TV in the left alcove and bloody sconces on the wall as the ceilings are so low! Only my wood burner isn't recessed at all and sits on the hearth in front of the chimney. I've got a french window to the left of where you have your TV so mine has to actually go into the alcove.

40" 4k led. We sit sbout 3.5m away at a maximum so it doesnt dominate the room.
Anything over 50" would be to big for the room I feel.

65" but it's a long room at 6m. Could have gone bigger but really didn't want it dominating the room. It's the only TV in the house.

Recently went from a 55" LED to a 65" QLED, and appreciate the difference every time I watch it.

It's a big room with the sofa roughly 9-10' from the TV.

42" Panasonic plasma, in a smallish lounge. About 10 years old but still a nicer (and more natural) picture than many newer TVs so I'm not in any hurry to replace it.

55inch, chosen for the minimal input lag for the xbox. When it goes pop it'll be a 75inch. I sit about 3cm from the screen... when playing warzone I have to get a chair through as the sofa feels too far away to see the we ants in the distance. Signs of a new bigger TV is needed.

My Panasonic 32" one in the living room is nearly 15 years old, was repaired using the JL guarantee within the first 5 years, no problems since. The sound and picture is much better quality than the newer Panasonic in the kitchen. It's just not "smart" a bit like me!

65" Sony - still in its box from the Black Friday sales - is going in my new house living room when renovations are done and my current 60" Samsung will go into my indoor cycling room.

I would have gone larger but my wife was against, she would go 55" for aesthetic reasons so 65" was a compromise.

75inch is too big, trust me I tried. You have to physically move your head so your reaction times will be longer than those on a smaller screen. Depends how competitive you want to be I suppose.

Also unless 8K you will see each individual pixel with reasonable clarity at that size and viewing distance

I’m about 15ft from my 75" tv, I still struggle at times to see people tucked away in CoD, I may need glasses or to git gud?
