Chromecast with Google TV is good, got it to replace a few Firesticks. it doesn't really offer much more but it smooth, oh and Stadia works on it.

For a PH review as an owner of a Roku, they’re fab. Much better than a chrome cast imho, as you don’t have to mess with your phone. It supports Disney, Netflix, Amazon, Apple TV etc as you’d expect plus loads more.

You can also play the tv sound through headphones connected to your phone if you want to watch quietly. Useful for me when everyone is asleep
Its debatable what's best.

We use Chromecast because we prefer casting to using a remote. We got my mother a Roku as she wouldn't get on with Chromecast.

Thank you chaps, very helpful, I'll get one ordered.

Just one more question.

I could put the £30 towards a smart TV? That would get us to the same place right?
I have a few smart tvs, only one of them still works properly as the other suppliers have stopped updating the apps, all my roku devices are still working.

Get a Roku
Agreed. We have loads of smart devices that didn't really work well out of the box, and soon go unsupported.

Roku devices and the like are more likely to be supported for longer, and if they become obsolete/unsupported it's about £30 to replace with the latest device.

The latest Chromecast has a remote, a game changes as far as I am concerned giving the best of both worlds.

I've got the new Chromecast and its better than my Firestick 4K, also helps that can sideload Stadia on it for gaming.
