I have an LG B7 V3 55" and it's really good, the best telly I have ever had. It's nearly 4½ years old and has some green screen burn from the YouTube logo in the top right hand corner, but most of my viewing is on that so it likely won't be an issue if you don't watch as much YouTube as I.

If you watch much Freesat or Freeview, the Program Guide on LG TVs is awful - slow and buggy. I have a 2016 55" model but it's apparently no better on the latest ones according to AVForums .

I'm itching to upgrade as I really want eARC and 65". I'm tempted by the Sony range. They use LG-made OLED panels but have a much betted Android OS rather than LG's webOS.
Imo WebOS is superb for TV and I would take it over Android any day. The LG remote is also great with the ability to point I would find it very difficult going back to anything else.

I have a CX which is my 2nd LG.

In my opinion for picture quality, nothing beats OLED screens.
However something to consider are dead pixels.
Have one on my 2 year old LG OLED (bright green pixel).
It’s not that noticeable unless you really look for it, and as I know it’s there I tend to do that a lot.
Still won’t put me off buying another OLED in the future though.
My LG OLED screen failed after 4 years "Green Haze" LG were basically not interested, £2K, 4 year old TV fked! LG says it is a known fault but the screen isn't covered under warranty.

So whilst LG do manufacture superb TV's, just make sure the model you choose does have a screen coverage on the warranty. As much as I like LG I would not buy another on principle.

Sony Bravia is now my new purchase, very pleased so far.
That and the fact they're a chunk cheaper is why we went with Samsung QLED last year. Less worries about screen burn and we could get the 75in for the price of the 55in LG OLED.

The OLED IS undoubtedly better picture quality though.

Am I right in saying screen burn can be an issue on these?

Would be like back to the plasma days.

Yes you do get screen burn on OLEDs.
I use my one as a PC monitor and you can (occassionally, depending on colours) see my task bar at the bottom of the screen.
As far as I can remember, I don't think it's as bad as plasma burn in in my case.

Got a 75" LG for the pub to watch the rugby.
Incompatible with ITV Hub so had to run it off my laptop (the maximize button did nothing so you had a tiny screen in the middle).
BBC iPlayer was fine.
Good picture and sound.

Humblebrag: I came up with the manufacturing method for a vital bit of the machines that "grow" OLEDs. cool

My LG 65 is about 2 years old and has screen burn all over the place, most noticeable against reddish backgrounds. Newer ones have processes to help prevent this I believe but I will be getting a QLED next as it is supposed to be burn free. Need to research it more.

We got 2 LG G1 of different sizes and can't complain. Great image and we like the Magic Remote. We bough ours because we wanted a flush wall mount that others don't seem to offer. Time will tell if it's a good choice. So far so good. I think TV's these days are much the same within their ranges. Probably not enough discernible difference on higher end panels for everyday use from all the big manufacturers.

It is a potential issue as the instructions with my TV made clear, I've only had the Sony A9 a few months so can't speak from experience, but the TV software goes to considerable lengths to stop it happening - dimming the screen, pixel shift, or switching to a screen saver under some conditions. OLED might not be the best choice for a PC monitor since (unlike a TV) the screen can be pretty static for long periods.

I would add that I never had the problem with my previous plasma TV which i had for donkey's year and never took any particular trouble to avoid the issue.

If you move quickly then you can still - just about - get last year's LG models at a big discount to the 2022 models (e.g. £1600 for a 2021 "C" model vs £2400 for the 2022 equivalent).

Yes the 2022 models have some incremental improvements (possibly v hard to detect to the naked eye unless you go for the top-end super bright panels) but the "C" model was the best buy you could get last year.

Just bought a 65" model myself, I also have a couple of Panasonic plasma (Z and VT series) and a projector. They all have excellent pictures, different characteristics of course, but paired with a good source the OLED has some obvious advantages over the plasmas (4K & HDR).

The OLED range isn't, the LZ1500/2000 models use the LG evo panel with their own processors, also remember no Samsung model supports Dolby Vision, and that omission alone takes it off the table for me.

Supposedly only for the Japanese market.

Don't get me wrong, the TCL TV's are supposedly excellent.

Popped into curry's impressed with sound and picture on LG C1 55 @1099

Budget creep to the 2022my c2 though. Its £1899, less £200 cashback and curry's are offering an additional £100 off so essentially £500 more.

Is it worth an extra £500? I really don't know.

ETA I notice John Lewis offering a full 5 yr warranty too, not just the panel.

Got it, jolly good too.

Nice picture and sound, C2 has a tidier stand than the C1, old sound base is redundant, plenty of apps to play with. Not sure its worth the money but its ok. A bit like John Travolta on sampling Uma's 5 dollar shake.

Menus aren't intuitive, so a bit of a pain with recordings, and cant work out how to set up a freeview favorites list. Probably get it all worked out in time.
