Phillips B97 HDR passthrough
Discussion
Hi
I have a Phillips B97 soundbar, which frankly sounds epic, documentation is beyond terrible tho. This is connected via eARC to eARC to a Phillips 43PUS8555.
Connected to a standard HDMI port is an nVidia Shield Pro
Sound quality is superb and Dolby Vision HDR etc all work as expected & look great, though in Plex and Disney+ I've noticed some audio sync issues at times.
In addition any uncompressed audio is not passed through to the soundbar & I get silent films, or just PCR 2ch audio
According to the B97 documentation it support Dolby vision / HDR passthrough. So I tried connecting the Shield to the soundbar directly. This resolves any audio issues, however HCR / Dolby vision is not passed through.
Is there a trick to get the passthrough working? I've tried Shield>B97-eARC - then B97 HDMI>TV with no change.

Are you sure the Phillips B97 is not just 4K passthrough?
Nope, Like I said the manual is pretty dreadful, below is copy/pasted from the websitehttps://www.philips.co.uk/c-p/B97_10/fidelio-sound...
Video
Video Enhancement
4K Video Pass-through
Dolby Vision
HDR10
HDR10+
HLG
Doesn't explicitly state that Dolby Vision has passthrough, but why else mention it if it doesn't

Soundbar is a bit of a red herring in so much as it should work with Shield connected to TV. Have you checked for firmware updates for the TV?
Nothing for the TV. There is a firmware update for the soundbar, but I'm extremely hesitant to apply as other owners have complained it bricking the satellite speakers.Richyvrlimited said:

So is the audio issue only with content via Shield?
Not tried from another device to be honest, the shield is a PLEX server which is hosting the content with uncompressed audio, don't have any other content I can play from other devices to test.I could try playing direct from USB actually, will give it a whirl
