When we rewired and added speaker cables to out house, after a thread like this, I had it wired in 1.5mm white twin and earth.

This was a compromise over my gut feeling of 'just use 2.5mm' because of terminating it at each end. Ran a length of cat5 to each speaker location too, which in several rooms is the only network cable.
Terminated in a euro modual binding post type speaker terminal, which will take cable or 4mm banana.

Absolutely no notable sound different driving a pair of DM603 S2's hard from a Cambridge Audio A5 over about 15m of 1.5mm Vs 4m of 2.5mm Van Damme.

White differentiates if visually under the floor from power/lighting which is all grey. Twin and earth means if you ever wanted to you could turn them into a power supply for a powered smart speaker or the like.

At 15m, 1.5mm is good enough for over a kilowatt per channel into 8 ohms.
