A great demo of a system is to have a cup of water on a table when the T-Rex turns up in Jurassic Park, watch it shake just like the one on screen
tried it many times with progressivly bigger and bigger subs ending up with aREL Studio3 which is capable of dropping to 12hz and it doesnt happen.
Spielberg got the effect by having a spare dashboard assembly put in a wooden frame and
immediatly under the glass he had a tightly strung guitar string about 3 ft long
which was then plucked resulting in the famous effect.

In reality the waves produced would be so low in frequency that they would not be produced in a cup, you would need a swimming pool.
