No ITV 3 or 4 now. Arse. ITV4 showed the Tour de France, and shows the rugby every weekend.

What would have happened if I didn't retune? Would I still be getting my annual lycra fill?

Same here, guess I won't be watching the Touring cars this weekend then, all so 3 more people can watch channel 5. Oh gee thanks.

Edit - found them on channel 800 and 802 confused

I just got a call from my next door neighbour asking for help retuning his freeview box.

After I did that, I also showed him what the guide buton did, he'd never used that before.

Yup, its gunna be fun. This comes into effect after dinner time, basically a few stations are switching multiplex's so 5 has better coveravge and making space for HD broadcasts but some people on relay stations will loose some stations that they got before.
True. Retuning no problem, just fewer channels.

No ITV, ITV4, Dave or film4.

Progress my arse.
Really?

I've retuned, and I have all of these channels still!

I've retuned all the Freeview TVs and STBs in the house....I like the channels to be in a certain order and I have to say some makes are easier to rearrange than others and even differences between my Sony TVs and Sony DVD recorder made me accidently start the scan again. furious At least we seem to still have all the channels we had before (Crystal Palace transmitter).

What happened was basically some channels jumped onto the commercial mux's and channel5 moved to a public mux. In some areas (repeter transmitters mostly)the commercial mux is not available so whatever channels moved to the commercial mux you will no longer be able to recieve.

ALSO, lots of freeview equpitment needs more than the standard 'Add New Channels' option, some boxes have an auto tune function that actually only adds new channels, what you need to do is a FULL retune. Look for 'Default Settings' or something similar, worst case manually delete ALL channels then do a retune. You should then get all services on the correct number. Make sure you are set the the correct country too, i know from experiance that phillips stuff will store channels on the wrong preset if the country is set wrong.

Yes but you have to pay for it through 'Top Up TV'. It's not Free to Air.

Very glad that we are served in this area by a main transmitter and not a repeater. I dont think I could've bared to try and explain " Well there we go then. You now have all you had yesterday except for ITV3 and 4!!!' Difficult one......

I'm having trouble with my Humax box following yesterday's retune.

I have ITV3 on the programme list but it's blank so presumably that's gone now (as per the above posts?), I couldn't see ITV4 but I do have DAVE still?

BUT the bigger problem is that I seem to have lost most of the programme information and the guide is just blank even when I leave it time to load the info up. I've re-tuned twice and tried turning it off and on to reboot properly.

Anyone else had problems with a Humax box? I'll try the default option suggested above tonight.

My box is a Humax. I didn't have a problem retuning, although I lost ITV3 & 4. Try reseting the machine, making sure you unplug the aerial from it. Then plug it back in to allow for the retune.

I've had to do this a couple of times where it's crashed overnight trying to run an update.

Don't know if this is any help (or not as the case may be).
http://TVretune.co.uk/faqs/index.php#FAQ37

Click the link in the first sentence, its to a PDF. List various makes and solutions or help lines etc and Humiax is in there. No idea if it will sort your problem though.

Yes, when I retuned, channels were in odd places and there was no ITV3 or ITV4. I was concerned about this, as the cheapo TV in the kitchen with built-in Freeview had retuned and was receiving these channels with no problems.
However, as suggested elsewhere in this thread, I restored to factory default settings and it automatically did a retune. No need to disconnect the aerial, and all is now fine.
The only thing is that if you had it set up to record a future programme, you will have to re-enter them. Anything already recorded on the HDD will still be there.

we had this last night- reset to factory settings as CH5 and ITV3/4 are there, but at channel 800 onwards

reset to factory settings and means the system finds them in the right order

This was on the in-laws TV- they spent 2 hours saying how dreadful it was that we were going to lose channels, and how difficult it all was, and what a hassle it was to find instructino books etc etc. Had to leave the missus to it in the end- ITS ONLY A TELLY YOU DODDERING OLD FOOLS

Lousy order of stations too.

I've got the main 1 to 5, then Gay Rabbit and some other peripheral channel before any of the normal stuff again.

Will have another look this evening.

HUMAX Users Tip. I have updated two 9200T's and a 9150T so this should also apply to the 9350T

1 You will lose any Scheduled recordings on those channels that are moving so Make a note of them.

2 Before using the Auto tuning feature delete channel 5, ITV3,ITV4 and channels between 30 and 45 using the Edit Channel list feature. This will put the New channels in the correct slots on the EPG. Again if you have any scheduled recordings on those channels you will need to re-input them.

3 ITV2+1 re-appeared on my boxes as ITV but further down the EPG. IT IS ITV2+1 but they seem to have mislabelled it.

4 If your channels are in a funny order then using the Edit channel feature delete the channels that are "out of order" and do another Auto tune.

5 If you still have any "800" channels then you will find they have "placeholders" stating that you need to re-tune. These are the "Old" Channel 5 etc channels and will be removed in due course.

If I come across any other "funny's" I'll post them.
