I have a problem with my Sky+ that only affects recordings from Channel 5. Recordings from any other channel are fine as far as I can tell.

If I'm watching a recording where I am fast forwarding or rewinding through parts of it (such as skipping the ads) it will jump to a different part of the recording.

The first time you fast forward is always fine, but from then on (and seemingly at random), if I fast forward it will sometimes jump back to the point when I finished fast forwarding the last time.

For example, if I'm watching the Gadget Show, I fast forward through the first set of ads no problem. At the second set of ads, when I hit fast forward it will jump back in time to the end of the first set of ads at the point where I pressed play.

I've tried the obvious thing, unplugging from the mains, but no improvment. It only does it about 50% of the time too.

Any suggestions? I am plucking up the energy to ring Sky about it but the thought of trying to explain this problem to them saps my will to live.

Mine does this from time to time, but not specifically on Channel 5. Anyway, well done for finding something on C5 worth recording.

You might find some info on Digital Spy:

We had problems with 5 at the weekend. A power off for 30 minutes and a planner rebuild did the trick:

Checked out Digital Spy and someone has reported the same problem when recording from Virgin 1, but noone has responded with a solution frown

Correction to my previous post above, this is something that has been talked about on Digital Spy but Sky haven't fixed it yet.

This is a link to the relevant thread http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?...

Will doing this affect all the stuff I have series linked in the Planner?

Nope. AFAIK only doing a full system reset "destroys" the planner and your recordings.
