this is just for my room at uni, so about 26 inches the ideal size. more interested in quality than size, although wouldn't really want anything too much smaller than that. i could stretch to maybe £350, £400 at a real push. mainly to be used for playstation 3 gaming, watching dvds/blu-ray discs. don't really watch tv with it.

i've seen this on amazon, which is a samsung HD LCD

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-LE26B450C4-26-inch...

which seems pretty good value for money. but there is this 32inch for the same price here

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Toshiba-32AV615DB-32-inch-...

so why is it the same price but substantially bigger?

any recommendations welcome, but the closer to £300 the better. i'm currently having to play a PS3 on an old portable show box tv, which is cack.

thanks.

Ross.

edit: just found the same samsung but 32" only a few quid more!

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-LE32B450C4-32-inch...

or the panasonic which seems pretty good

Tescos are pushing a 26" Panasonic LCD at the moment (TX-L26C10B) for £250. Spec wise it's just a few features short on the 26X10 (no dedicated PC input but supported via HDMI, no optical sound etc.). It does have 2 HDMI's, one component and 2 x SCART plus S-Video on the side.
The one I ordered for my parents turned up today and I've just set it up.
SD picture is pretty good for an LCD, probably slightly better than my old 32" Sony LCD that cost twice the price. I've not tried it on HD but most LCD's look similar on HD, it's SD that sorts the men from the boys. For £250 I think it's great.
It's not available on line at the moment but should be available in store if you're quick.

I have a 26" Panasonic TX-26LXD70 & it is superb, my Father had his own tv shop for 30 years before retiring so I trust his opinion..

I appreciate there are many tv's on the market that look sexier but the picture quality is nowhere near as good..

sainsbury's had an offer on a 32" samsung for £300 so i got it, that's cheaper than on amazon! picture quality is ok through scart but it's superb for the money through HDMI, it's even a 1080p tv!! pretty happy with that biggrin

According to panasonics website the TX-L26C10B dosent exist! I wonder if it is a special for the supermarkets and catalogue shops.

Anything that says Panasonic... You can't go wrong, for me it's a better picture than the likes of Samsung and LG...

got a 32" samsung on a very very good offer. lets just say a fair bit cheaper than amazon smile picture through scart is pretty average, not very good, but through hdmi the picture is sublime, and blu-rays are very clear for what is a budget tv for the bedroom of a uni student biggrinhehe pretty pleased! the PS3 in particular comes up lovely!
