More hifi topics from me this week. I'm on a role! biggrin

I've got a problem with the on-board sound on my motherboard (Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-S2H). I have a lot of problems using DTS. When enabled, the sound becomes "wobbly" and distorted. I've tried all sorts including drivers, BIOS settings, etc but nothing seems to solve it.

I was planning a new sound card for the motherboard so I figure now is a good time to buy and see if the problem is resolved.

I was looking at some top-end AuzenTech X-Fi licensed cards but ultimately I'm only going to be using the optical output so would there be any difference between the optical output on this and the Creative Sound Blaster X-FI Titanium PCI-E which is substantially cheaper?

The AuzenTech I've read is designed more for audiophiles whereas the Creative card is designed for gamers in mind, however since none of the audio will be output through the analogue ports, would it make any difference?

Asus Xonar cards are supposed to be far better than their X-Fi rivals. Google them. They do several audiophile standard models from HC to Hi-Fi.
