Yep I'd guess so - casual gaming.

Remember this is nothing new nvidia was doing sttered LCD glasses a long time ago and it didnt take off - not seeing any PC monitors doing 3D either.

PS3 will be limited for 3d (180i only over HDMI 1.3) and I expect it will struggle rendering a decent looking game at even 720/3d

The next round of consoles will do a lot better tho , I expect 1080p 3D from them.

Incase no one has answered this directly...

"Won't screens need to be huge?"
IMO at a standard distance your probably going to want one as large or larger than whats already typical , 50inch or bigger.
50" is the smallest really. Lots of studies have been done by Sky into the effects of seeing the edge of the screen whilst viewing 3d. From what they said if the viewer sees the edge of the screen, it confuses the brain and lessens the 3d effect. That's why it has to be such a big screen, otherwise it's like looking through a window.

"What are viewing angles like? "
Dunno!
Apparently ok, but again it was mentioned that the further off centre you go, the more confused the brain becomes by the 3d

"Will the increased resolution sacrifice SD and HD picture quality?"
Nope. All its doing is showing twice the number of frames (same HD/1080 resolution) the glasses act like shutters switching off half the frames to each eye.
Not quite true, you do lose horizontal resolution as the left eye and right eye streams are in the same frame. It's not a dramatic effect, but there is a degree of loss in the picture.

"Can you get up and walk about with the glasses on without falling down stairs etc? I'm thnking specifically about pubs and football."
I doubt pubs will be showing 3D stuff untill we have decent glasses free tech.
Sky said that after the tests they held in the pubs people were seen to be carrying on wearing the glasses after the match, sort of like still wearing the bowling shoes after a game! They didn't confirm how drunk these people were though!!
