I'm on the hunt for some speakers for my PC, and have been offered a set of Harman Kardon Soundsticks II for about £60. Are they any good or is there anything else at that sort of price point I should be looking for?

ps: I've asked in here on purpose rather than in Computers and stuff, so please don't move the thread smile

I'm probably missing the point, but for PC speakers does one need anything particularly sophisticated? I use the supplied Dell powered subwoofer and pair of small speakers and I'm really pleased with the setup.

Since most of the stuff I listen to on the PC has been compressed/expanded anyway, it all sounds just fine. I'm not an audiophile though.

You've not fully missed the point. The fact that most pc speakers sound like crap means I'm after something that doesn't sound too bad.

Most of the music is either flac or 320 so it's not too bad.

I've been reading up and finding that the Creative gigawave 40 s2

I've got some Logitec 2.1 and although peanut price wise the sound is perfectly adequate for movies/tv/iTunes type applications if you are just listening in.
