Got my new Onkyo HT-r380 with speaker set today. Connected to blue ray with the leads supplied and works ok, but I can't get sound to work from the TV. Have connected opt out from tv to opt 1 in on the av, but still no sound. Had a play around with the menus but had no luck. Have not got any other audio out connection on the LG tv so I suppose it has got to be opt. The cable does not seem to fit all that well. The cable lights up red when plugged into the tv. Do you think I need to change anything on the tv? Had a skip through the menus but can't find anything. Any help or guidance would be most welcome.

Thanks.

On my onkyo amp you have to assign the input as optical. Ie tel the amp that tv setting is optical input. HTH

Same with mine, there is the setup menu that you assign the different ports to different inputs.

As above, read the instructions to take you through the set up which you assign HDMI and audio inputs. Its a two minute jobsmile

Have found the menu. Set tv input to opt 2 and plugged opt cable into opt 2. Still nothing. Getting a bit fed up with it now.

Is there a menu in the TV to activate optical audio out?

To confirm, is it the set's in built freeview you are trying to listen to? As the TV may not send anything through the optical from and external source.

yes, tv has freeview hd. I would have thought that it would output a signal, otherwise I can't see what the opt out is for. The basic printed instructions that came with the LG telly don't give reference to activating the opt out and the cd instructions will not open on my mac.
