Hello all.

I have a 2005 vintage Phillips 26PF9966 LCD tv which has been providing sterling service as a monitor for my Mac mini for the past 4 years.

It's connected via a VGA lead and on first installation was a simple plug-n-play affair; I switched the TV to PC mode, it displayed [PC-A] where the channel would normally be displayed and worked just as a display should.

However, it has now decided that rather than saying [PC-A] it will say [PC-D] and it has since ceased to detect my computer or to show anything useful. Whilst I presume this is a simple change of channel type thing (similar to switching from [AV-1 ] to [AV-2]), I cannot work out why it decided to change after so long, and how I can go about putting it back.

I've tried all the usual things- restoring to factory default settings, disconnecting the VGA lead and re-connecting when TV is off, on, off then on and anytime in-between. I've left the power off over night and i've pressed every button on the remote (albeit a universal one, it seems to work every other function ok though).

Any ideas greatly appreciated!

Thankyou.

PC-D refers to the DVI input PC-A refers to the VGA input.

Repetedly press the PC button and it will cycle between the two. If your universal remote dosent have a specific PC button then there is your problem wink (its the green fastext button if it isnt labelled)

Thanks headcase, I suspected it was something simple. The universal remote doesn't want to switch it back so I have no idea how it got switched in the first place!

So now I need to find the proper philips remote with the PC key pressumably? Or will any one with fastext do it?

They are usually pretty similar, i would have thought the universal one would do it, if it switched one way then you would think it would switch back, try checking to see if the green fastext button works (the led on the set usually blinks on philips sets when they recieve a signal from the r/c). I suppose its possible that you need to press shift and green or something similar its an old set and my memory is pretty sketchy, see if you can dig out or DL an user manual for it, that should clear it up.

Just to close this, sorted with a £2.75 dvi cable. Now have a choice of VGA and DVI, depending which one the TV decides to display.
