hehe not me, I just thought it was typical of someone in the know (the guy in the shop) trying to enlighten a customer, who just didn't seem to get the point.

Still very funny though!

Yeh, but it works both ways, its just as funny how the salesman in the know just isnt listening to what the customer wants wink She asks for something with specific functionality at a price and he offers everything but that!

He's not trying to enlighten a customer. He's trying to force a product onto a customer that doesn't meet any of her requirements. She has a price limit and wants an easy one box solution. He fails as a salesman.

She's gone in to the wrong shop. He's trying to sell her what he has to sell. I would have told her to fk off to Argos.

That is true.

He could do a lot better to say that is the best we can do for your budget, but explain why a little more would be a better investment. smile

For all that is said about Bose they do have a Niche market, Yes there is better stuff at the same price, they fall into the 'All the Gear and no idea' category right next door to Monsters Gold plated Optical lead.
I was at one of their 'training' sessions when they launced their new Lifestyle V range, as usual they are behind the times technology wise.
Yes it has HDMI functionality but at V1.3 level so no ARC and no 3D support
It now has an iopd dock but very limited multiroom functionality.
It has an FM tuner but no DAB tuner
Price tag has gone up £500 so the top one is £4.5k
Oh yeh and the best part they have solved the 'OMG where is the mute button' problem by putting it under the volume control wink

Its a nice product but tbh I wouldnt buy one at half that price.

We have a coupe of sound docks, which are perfectly ok for what they are, they produce a decent enough sound and can fill a room with noise. Probably only any good for background/party type situations. If you actually want to 'hear' some music I doubt it's much cop. But then those that know say CD's are rubbish too.

As for the video - was it meant to be taken seriously? It seems some are, I don't really get it.

Spent Monday ripping a Lifestyle 50 out and replacing it with something which works.

Proprietary interfaces, horrendous control, marginally average sound quality.

I know they have their buyers and the Wave Radio buyers I can understand but who buys the Lifestyle systems? They must be barmy.

Still, easy upsell down the line I guess...

I have a pair of 301 bookshelf speakers, and I think they're great. Certainly better than the Mordaunt Shorts that they replaced, but I guess that's not saying much either!

Dont forget the LS50 came out in the late 90's. At the time to play music in 4 zones was pretty neat. Agree no DVD player built in, was an opportunity missed but I still see clients who have these and have no wish to change.
We have a LS48 in the house. Stores 350 hours of CDs. Learns likes and dislikes as far as music goes. Easy for playlist set up and plays music in up to 14 rooms. One of the main considerations when we installed it was that SWMBO didn;t want the lounge to look like mission control, with half a dozen boxes all on an oil rig in the corner. Suits us for films and now that we've added SONOS, ideal for the reast of the house.
Each to their own I suppose!
Plus I sell them!

I have a set of Bose noise cancelling (over ear) headsets and they were easily the best sound quality over anything else I tried. Build quality and materials also top notch.

plotty is right, years ago i installed a lifestyle 30 system. it did what it said on the tin and was a good allrounder IF..you discard what i paid for it and dont consider what else I could have got.

Now with a slightly more bespoke system (from said plotster) I'm in a much better place, however, I do have a BOSE portable sounddock for travel/picnics/boat etc and the sound is actually remarkable for such a small bit of kit.

ps, plotty, gimme a holler will you fella.

If, as a salesperson, you expect all potential customers to already know exactly what they want and know which shop sells it before entering the shop, what purpose does the sales person have?

If you would swear at a customer for entering the wrong shop though lack of knowledge whilst looking for a product then you are a very sad individual. I really hope I never meet you.

And as that figure of speech has whooshed right over your head so completely, I hope I don't meet anyone as daft as you in my entire life.
