Generally excepted wisdom is anything above 36" should be Plasma.
Why
Because it reacts to motion better, it handles contrast and colour better and is generally better at rendering a moving image.

LCD does have it licked on static content however, which I'm sure you'll agree is the killer application for television.

hehe

I've not posted on these types of threads, but read the lot and respect the views. Suffice to say, after the summer when my home cinema get a revamp, it'll be a (large-ish, i.e >42", <50") Panasonic for me.

I haven't anything like the experience of Plotters, but from my non-scientific testing of a 40" Samsung LCD against a 42" Panny Plasma. The Samsung just doesn't match up.

And neither does the price...

The Panasonics tend to be more expensive....

That's as maybe, but if I'm already spending hundreds of pounds on a telly, then I'm happy to spend a small amount more and get what I see as the the best value.

I paid under £700 for my 42" Panansonic. My mate who bought the Samsung paid not a huge amount less for something that doesn't look as good.

If price was the main driver, we'd all be happy with a £200 horror from Tesco's...

At the end of the day, you get what you pay for.

With a few exceptions.

Thinking of a new tv myself like the look of the g20's. Only worry I have is, do I still need to worry about screen burn on plasma screens? I can spend up to four hours playing forza and it would be on this new set, plus all the channel logos which I believe used to be a problem. Is this something I should be concerned about or are has this issues been rectified, as of not I don't think I have a choice but go for lcd screen.

Had mine for 3 months and no issues whatsoever with marathon gaming sessions.

I'm being swayed towards the 42" G20 at the moment. Best price I've seen is Pixmania.

I was considering the 40" LCD/LED Sony 703 that is currently a few quid more expensive at Comet at the minute, but I'm not sure.
