Virgin / Samsung V+ HD Box - how to force update?

Does anybody know how to force a firmware update on a Virgin / Samsung SMT-H3110 V+ HD Box?

Mine was automatically updated on Friday, but now each time I change channels, I get a very nasty thump through my surround sound

I'm using the optical output into my AV receiver.

I don't know if forcing another update will help - or perhaps rectify the situation, but it's worth a try.

It's the same as the older Samsung box (non HD)

Hold <^> on power up, let it sit on LD:14 for around 5 seconds then let go.
