We've recently completed the decorating and furnishing of my 'den' at home. The idea being to move the PS3 and surround sound from the lounge into there, so that when I want to do some gaming I'm not hogging the lounge. The deal with Mrs Arese was that we'd prepare the room and then buy a TV ~£600 when we returned from our Honeymoon in October.

Well, on Saturday we'd nipped into town for a few bits and bobs and decided to pop into Martin Dawes to see what kind of stuff we could get for our budget. A few nice sets, in particular the Panasonic G20 range, but for the size I wanted (46"+) way out of our budget of course.

Anyway, long story short, I was talking to 'the guy' and he mentioned they had one 50" LG 50PC55 ex-rental in stock. There was a slight problem in that there was a small area of screen burn in the top-right corner, actually the logo from Dirty Dancing hehe I'm assuming someone had either left the DVD in overnight or died with the menu on the screen laugh. It was priced at £320 with the pedestal.

I got him to power it up and plug in a HD source, and sure enough there was a very feint logo in the top corner, but only when the image on the screen was white. Other than that, the picture quality was pretty good and we did a deal at £280. The TV will only be used for gaming and the occasional Blu-Ray film every other Saturday night or something.

So I got the TV home, via Ikea for some furniture (£35!), spent a few hours building the furniture and moving my PS3 and surround sound into the den, whilst Mrs Arese cleaned the TV and pedestal, and I'm well impressed. I've not seen the DD logo since we first fired it up, so hopefully it's fading away. Sure, it's only 1366 x 768 and a few years old now, but for PS3 use it's fantastic. I also connected my laptop via HDMI and the picture was really crisp. Admittedly, due to it's size, SD-content looks pretty turd, but we'll mainly be using it for Blu-Ray or games.

For £280, I'm delighted. thumbup

Sorry, couldn't help myself smile

Glad you got a bargain, although I just know my eye would be constantly drawn towards that part of the screen but that's just me wink

Two weeks on and I've forgotten all about the 'burn in', it seems to have completely gone. Still delighted with it. smile

Plasma screens I understand are like that, they don't burn out like CRT ones.

A nice bargain then, it's great when the sales staff don't know as much as you do biggrin
