Right, the Panasonic TX-L37D25 takes my fancy. But I see in reviews that the HD is brilliant. So my Blu Ray and Freesat HD will be good. But on many reviews of HD TV's (not just this one) they mention a poor SD. Many HD TV's can't seem to get HD viewing and SD viewing both brilliant. I'm sure there is a reason but it's far out of my understanding.

How poor is poor? Poor in comparasion? Disapointing poor? Not watchable daily poor? Alright but not brilliant? We're being bloody picky poor?

LCD is less forgiving of a poor feed plus deals with colour, contrast and motion worse in comparison to a plasma.

It's why I suggest the similarly sized Plasma.

Thread revival.....I'm in the same position as the OP and was all set to get the TX-L37G20 however Amazon are doing the P42G20 for £667 so I'm considering spending the extra and getting the larger plasma. Only thing is I wonder if it's too big (sat 2 meters away) and concerns over increased problems with the plasmas from what I've read online.

If you read too much on the web you'll find that some plasmas lose black levels, Sonys have 'cones' and 'bands' other buzz and there's probably one that farts as well but I don't know if it's LCD or plasma. smile

Best advice would to buy from a good dealer that will demostrate the TV properly and be helpful in the event that you have an issue with it. So therefore avoid the box shifters and the likes of Comet and Curries and support a local dealer IMHO.

I did go to Richer Sounds a couple of weeks ago but the guy there was steering me towards an LG, claiming Pannys were overpriced by comparison, and said 32" would be right for my situation although I feel this is a little small when watching films.

Since then I've narrowed down my criteria and upped my budget (must have Freesat HD) so I might pop back and see. I still think 42 might be too big but the plasma picture seems to be better than LCD.

They must have a preferance for LG in RS as I went in to look at a small Sony for a second room and he 'demonstrated' to me how the 'build quality' of the Sony was poor by tapping on the plastic case. Of course being plastic it made a 'plasticy' sound and proved nothing to me other than the man was a plank would probably got some benefit out of selling the LG over Sony. smile

I'm afraid to say that I haven't split with my money yet! Car insurance beccons, so I've put it on hold. I'm hoping for a slight reducion in price come Christmas.

As you can see above, I tried to put it in simple terms and look at the overall dimensions and their impact. 42" seems a bit big for me. If the 42" turns out to be too big for you. You could keep the upped budget and get the next 37" model up.

Not a very helpful answer I know!

I'm in the same boat - trying to balance the costs of getting a new Home Cinema set-up with a suspension overhaul!!

I really think a 37 is the right size and I want Freesat so I can cancel my Sky sub. I don't see many other manufacturers doing Freesat HD TVs on my budget so the L37G20B might be my best bet in that case. Gives me an extra £100 or so towards coilovers! biggrin

Aye, the Freesat dish is going in on Saturday. Two usable TV's will become one as I have only brought one Freesat box with a plan to buy the new TV come xmas time....that's the theory anyway. But I've just seen a tempting upgrade path for the Caterham.....
