What subwoofer for 5.1?

I want a sub woofer for Xmas to accompany the rest of my setup. I have a Mordaunt short setup - 902's front and rear with the 905 centre. The sound comes from a Denon 1910 amp, so the sub has to be an active one.
I've looked into the Mordaunt Short Premiere 309 and the Avant 309i, the latter 'i' being more powerful. I didn't noticed there were two different, but similarly named models up until a few days ago.
But with all this Mordaunt Short speak, it doesn't have to be manufactured by them. It doesn't have to match in the same way as a centre and front have to say, so I'm open to any suggestions as I really don't know anything about the area, this is my first setup.
So budget £100 - £150ish. Happy to bid second hand on eBay for a bargain, if anything, I prefer a good bargain.
Oh, and the smaller the dimensions, or slimmer if you will might make it easier to place. But I can sift through the recommendations for this.
So hit me with your suggestions.
