I just thought id share this with you, it makes more sence putting it here than in the lounge as its technical nature stands more chance of being understood here.

I got an emergency call out on Christmas eve, some guy bought a 'branded' piece of audio gear (he should have Bought Other Sound Equipment), anyways after calling us rotton and how after spending in excess of 4k it should be perfect and how he was an audio engineer (LOL) there was NOTHING wrong with his setup it must be faulty as he cant get any sound from his TV to come through it so we MUST replace it NOW and re set it up for him FOC even though it was a cash and carry sale.

Go go guess what it was?

Yes, i proceeded to uplug the optical cable then remove the dust caps from both ends and plug it back in again biggrin
It took me longer to de ice the bleedin van!rolleyes
Yes he made himself look like a right twunt.

I think he'd already done that by chosing that particular brand. smile I hope he had the decency to apologise (though I'd bet he didn't as similar has happened to me though not with AV gear).

Well he ate humble pie that was about as good as it got. Its unlikely he will get a bill either as they would rather this type of person just go away rather than to make it worse wink
Needless to say it made my day eitherway biggrin

Alright, in lieu of this try my emergency call out situation (though it's not an AV system, it's still a twunk of a customer like in the OP's story wink.

Called out to look at one of our systems as the customer's lab floor was covered with water. Our machines have water under pressure inside so do leak occasionally. He was really rude and agressive when I arrived and I happened to be training a new colleague at the time who was astounded at this guy's attitude towards me. It wasn't however anything to do with our system...discuss. smile

Hidetheelephants is closest so far. Like the ice sculpture suggestion, but it was in the summer. smile

I'd better answer while I remember this thread smile

Customer had knocked a drain tube for a completely unrelated piece of equipment out of the upstand so it was emptying onto the floor. I put it back in place and even helped mop up the water...he still hadn't got the decency to appologise. rolleyes

Sorry it wasn't very exciting, but it shows that you can get some ignorant customers in other walks of life. smile

If the opportunity arises, that deserves some prawns secreted behind the unrelated equipment, especially if it gets warm in use.
