Afternoon all.
I have an LG plasma tele thats a few years old now, 42" if it matters.
Recently when watching movies on Sky (normal and HD) and also blu ray, the black or dark bits appear 'blocky'. It's the best way to explain it. The black bits aren't solid black, they sort of move around as if you were watching a webcam over a slow connection.
Is my tele about to self destruct?

It could be as simple as your brightness is set too high, the function of the "brightness" control is actually to set the colour of Black, contrast does the other it sets the intensity of white, these are you two fundimental adjustments.
Worst case it could be the panel on the way out, some can develop sparkles or strange halo's and other such weird things.
Do a Google for the Pluge test pattern to help you setting up the brightness properly and a greyscale for setting the contrast.
