This may or may not have a simple answer, but is there any device available to plug into the back of my receiver/amp thingy that could pick up music played from my laptop via wifi?

+1 for the Airport Express. Especially if you use iTunes.

Logitech is also very good, so either really although I have no experience with the Logitech

I use Airport Express also, through a PC running Vista with iTunes and as an extended wireless network (i.e. not my main wi-fi router which is a netgear), and I've found there is an annoying intermittent signal drop of about a second every couple of minutes or so. Tried allsorts to fix it but just can't (the internet is full of people with the same problem if you google it). Something to bear in mind when considering your purchase though.

I have one of these connected to my hifi: Logik Irma 1

Sound quality can be tinkered with using the Sharpfin upgrade, I haven't done this as my amp has far better sound controls.
