Need some help in attempting to get up to date with modern technology!
I currently have a Linn Classik/Monitor Audio S6 combo and very happy with the sound, I also have a fair amount of stuff on laptops/Ipods and am wondering what the easiest/best way is to integrate them?
Ideally, the solution would not involve me having to have the laptop on all the time and have some possible future multi room possibilities for when the miniMadness's want to listen to music in their rooms.
A few bits of info. I like itunes and would rather use that, files are a mix of lossless and 320k, a reasonable budget would be nice (ideally under 1k)and the less obvious boxes and wiring the more liklihood of approval from OC House and Plans!

Fantastic system - v easy to use and setup, great sound and very scaleable. Ticks all the boxes really!
Put all of the laptop files onto a NAS drive (£100), get a Sonos ZP90 to plug into your current amp, add a Sonos wireless iPod dock and away you go!

Would this allow different zones to stream different tracks at the same time from one NAS drive?
Can you select tracks without having a different remote in each room? Whilst remote looks nice I don't fancy buying 3 or 4!

There is also a Sonos app for iphone & android phones.
Each zone can play it's own stream from the NAS or Internet radio and can be controlled from either the good but expensive controller, a pc/mac or iPhone/iPad/iTouch.
Also the line level inputs you can connect to each zone can be listened to anywhere, so your cd player becomes a shared source.

I have Sonos going into a Musical Fidelity pre-amp, mono blocks and ultimately into Ruarks. It sounds excellent. I have several Sonos zones through the house using the Sonos S5 units (which look similar to the Bose docking stations but have a much better sound!).
Whilst quite expensive, Sonos is definitely the gold standard for wireless music and would fit happily into your system.

Does the Sonos control volume too? Yes the Sonos will control the volume and give you EQ per zone too. As with all things plugged directly into a power amp, you would need to keep an eye on the volume! But then you know this already from having your cd player directly in.
How would you switch between sources by the way? I assume your power amp has only one line in.

I'll put my two peneth in and give another thumbs up to the Sonos. I've got a Netgear ReadyNas Duo feeding 1xS5, 1xZP90 and 1xZP120. The ZP90 is hooked up to my Nad amp powering Monitor Audio RX6. All files are lossless and the sound is stunning.
Napster has had a few problems on Sonos over the last few months so it may be worth waiting till they have sorted the problems if you'd like to subscribe.(or use Spotify.)

I might do the same. Getting fed up up with being unable to use Napster at weekends. It brings the pleasure back to having a Sonos..... You need to have the Spotify Premium Subscription for Sonos at £9.99 a month.
