Hi all

Need to buy a new TV within the next month. Having had a 2 year old Panasonic plasma I definetly want to get another plasma..this time with 3D

Have had a look at the range and will probably go for the GT30 in 50 inch.

Anyone have an idea of prices and release date of the above?

What will be the difference in price between the VT and GT for the 50 inch?

Apologies for bumping this up again but does anyome have any new info.

I need to buy a TV within the next month and am wondering if I should just buy a current VT or I should wait?

Well just came across this website:

http://www.panalivingston.co.uk/Panasonic-3D-TVs-T...

Gave them a call and they say they will definetly be released this month. Also have a good idea about prices now.

Oh, strange - just tried both sites and neither seems to be working.

Was just browsing to be honest. Looking for a DVD & HDD recorder with Freeview HD tuner/s and wondered if the new Panasonic ones are out yet.

Even if its at the end of March for the GT30.. I think I will be able to wait till then, rather than buy a VT20 now.

Do you have any idea if the GT30 comes with the 3d glasses or not?

Ranger, you must be in an area where Gadaffi's SCUDs have struck. wink

Re GT30 v VT20 debate; only the VT30 will offer a subjective performance uplift.

I'm not sure what to do. Ideally I only want to spend around £1k but might stretch a bit, or may wait and get some more money together.

I was thinking of the 50V20B but after having used my brothers new 42GT20B for a while, 3D is quite cool. Not sure whether to find a used or graded 50VT20B or wait, save and go for a 50VT30B. Not sure I can justify spending that much on a TV though.

Could go for a 50V30B, not sure whether 3D is worth it really. Not sure I'd use it much and I'd have to upgrade my Onkyo 876AV receiver and blu ray player. Will there be a 50V30B (non 3D 50") as I can't find a reference to one anywhere?

Just an FYI you can buy BluRay players with two HDMI outputs: One goes direct to your 3D display and the other goes to your non 3D amp. I've just bought an Oppo BDP-93 that has this feature, but I'm sure there are cheaper options as well, maybe even made by Panasonic IIRC.

Dan,

Folks never had any problem justifying Pioneer Kuros: think that quality but enhanced with vastly more bell and whistle whilst commanding lower prices.

The only thing that has changed is world class marketing by certain purveyors of less than world class product.

Thanks. And what would you recommend for my budget? I'm looking at the TX-P50V20B as it's within budget now and I have a 3D TV upstairs already (42GT20B) so don't really need another! Although the extra 2 pairs of glasses would be handy.

Are you recommending I wait and go for a vastly better 30B?

Dan,

There won't be a 2D 'V' in '30 guise so a 42/50V20 is the end of an era, sadly.

Given that VT30 prices will be somewhat lofty, for 8-9 months and that the '20 chassis is ball bouncingly fab as is, I wouldn't say body swerve a 50V20, at all.

Very few left, however...

I've found a used one 50V20B, 5 year guarantee, used twice and then sealed back in its box. It's £975 - sound a good price? I've seen them for £999 new but without the 5 year guarantee.
