The old terrestrial signal lead....
Discussion
...that came from the wall into the Skybox,
out of the Skybox, into the DVD recorder,
out of the DVD recorder, into the VCR,
out of the VCR and into the TV
- all otherwise connected by SCART or component leads
- it does nothing now, right, and I've just got a lot of redundant spaghetti in there for nothing?
I know, logically this must be right but I need my stupidity to be eased and be assured that link now does nothing at all.

Cheers.
We can't get Freeview so since the analogue signal went, the aerial doesn't receieve anything save a fog. Needless to say I didn't know we couldn't get Freeview until after I'd splurged on a DVD Recorder with Freeview and the new TV has Freeview as well - it will be useful if we ever ditch Sky as you can get Freeview through the old dish.

Have you checked since Switchover?? The signal strength is increased substantially when the Analogue goes off so very few places miss out.
No but I am a bit of a technophobe so wouldn't really know what to do if it did tune in given that I have Sky anyway. It's not like I need it but I do need Sky for all the kid's programmes. If I'd had any foresight, I would have married a woman whose father was a TV engineer and part-time plumber/boiler repairman.
I see no point in confusing myself really....
